New Member Introductions:
Hello and welcome all to the Deeper Chess Theory Club!My name is Joe and i'm the founder/moderator of this club.

Do not let the name..."Deeper Chess Theory"become intimidating to you!Deeper stands for much deeper "in depth" club quality, extremely deep chess theory and other services that myself or the club members will be able to provide to your game and do its best to help improve your game play as time marches on.So you can be a complete beginner, intermediate or master and always return back to the club for questions and answers....and be given the same equal respect as a player that might be 2600 in rating. My handle name on GK is pandemonium_666(temporarily) and many of you know me from past/present GK forum posts as Tactical_Abyss with a past GK rating of over 2500.A few months ago I had closed my original account,so I am starting over at a lower rating of 2200+...but don't let that 2200 rating fool you,i'm still that 2500+ player you all knew from the past!It will simply take me approx 2 or 3 years to build my rating up again to senior master level as I had done in the past.I have been playing chess since age 8,so its been approx 50 years that I have been involved in chess.Chess clubs in High School,College,USCF OTB and Corresp. tourneys, postal chess and many chess correp.websites and blitz sites over the years have honed my chess knowledge and skills. My experience playing and mingling with strong players up to real GM's at the Manhattan and Marshall Chess clubs in NYC have given me insight into the game that has improved my personal play over the decades immensely. While I am not here in this club to be a personal trainer/mentor to anyone,I do enjoy giving some of my "abyss"tips and bulldoze out a road for you, giving you perhaps a better direction for your insight and continuing study into the royal game. Not everything I mention will be some kind of "magic formula" that will suddenly improve your play by several hundred rating points, but may very well lay a foundation for your game improvements or renewed interests in the game. Not everything I mention as time moves on you may agree with or understand.Sometimes I may show you how to take advantage of and exploit your opponent's weakness's or bad habits and crush him without mercy! But then, all is fair in "love and war" as I always say!

Good luck to all,and hope the members and myself can be of service to you in time!

Its important to me to illustrate to all future club members that my actual rating strength is approx 2500+,regardless of what my present game profile states. The reason this is important to me as well as YOU.Why? Its important, especially for any new club members joining to know and understand that they are being guided by a senior master,NOT a master in order for them to take to heart or have a bit more faith in what I post.

Hello my name is Edmund and I joined gk in December of 2011.I remember when my rating was 1071.It has been a slow road of improvement for me.I am happy to hit my highest rating of 1770 this year.I so enjoyed your club and it helped me improve .I'm happy you came back as well .I look forward to posting now and then too. Thanks again Joe for letting me join The New club

Welcome again Edmund!
I copied much of the old posts again...no sense in starting over from scratch, since much of that
info is invaluable, especially to new members who have not been here before.
Please feel free to ask questions or post anything you want on any subject.(Except what I mentioned in the club profile). It does not have to be about chess.Right now, stalhandske and myself are chatting about drums, since we were both drummers a while back. The club is young again with just a few members.I never press for more, but accept just about anyone....well,most of the time!I won't be quite as active as I was before due to moving abroad and other issues. So,if I do not respond back right away, please be patient.Good luck and lets try to raise you to 1900!Your almost at 1800 now! That is actually above the chess rating "average" in many places in the USA and Europe.

I’m Charlie and pleased to be reacquainted with The Deeper Chess Theory Club. A host of very useful information, thoughts and ideas to further one’s play.
Keep up the good work, Joe.

I will try Charlie!Good luck in the club.As I mentioned above,I am moving and i'm quite busy with other projects as well,so if I do not respond immediately,be patient.Ask away anytime.By the way,I see your blitz rating.Maybe we can raise that somehow?Mine is at 1957 after about 3 pages of wins.I win,but get little in return for points.Thats because everyone is still 1200-1400 rated,at least in the 5 minute/0 section.I have not met anyone yet higher than me,say 2000 or more.
Perhaps they exist, but I have not crossed swords with them yet!

Thanks for starting the club up again Joe, I enjoyed it here the last time and I’m sure I will again.

I haven’t been playing too much chess recently due to illness and other problems, but I still like to read. Luckily, I managed to limp pass my lifetime target of 2000 here before my issues arrived.

Looking forward to reading here again, please do let us know if any of you have tips on how to ‘create’ or find inspired attacks, sometimes my chess can get a little stale.

Regards,
Tim.

Again welcome Tim.
Look around again and if you see something you would like to discuss deeper, let me know.
I just posted a Basman analysis with computer vs computer to prove a point.
As to my time, right now it is a bit limited, since I am moving from the Caribbean to the
Mediterranean by next year. And then I have a home in the USA that I will be selling. So,it is involved. But all in all,it will be a good club over the months once others join.I am in pretty good health for my age, although I had 2 heart stents put in 2 years ago.No heart attack, but I felt weak and it was decided by the doctors to place the stents in for future cholesterol buildup and more.
Never smoked and only drink sociably and do exercise for decades, yet heart stents!Well,my diet never really was heart healthy! And cream pies?I could eat the whole pie in an hour! And no,I am NOT overweight unless you think 5'9" and 172 is heavy!?

Again good luck in the club!

Joe

Thanks Penguin.
Its members like you that are the heart and soul of this club. The club may not last forever, since I have other priorities in life at my older age,but while it is here,I am always willing to try and help you and others out in the club with their chess.Players come and go,I accept some, reject others
and some leave on their own, which is fine with me,no problemo!Since you have returned after several years,I know you care. That is important to me.Look over some posts if you have the time and ask away!Perhaps I can help you get better in chess? You never know!I hope your health is good!Mine is fine, but I have to watch my cholesterol.

I read that the ‘Mediterranean diet’ is more healthy than that of the West, hopefully that will help with the cholesterol, Joe. I don’t know what you think about statins, but my doctor says they’re working for me. I moved house myself a while back and found it a bit stressful, but decluttering and getting help from others made it easier.

Tim...
Yes,that is one of the many reasons "why"I am moving to the Med...next year, near Spain.
I am on a statin, once a day.A pretty big pill. But,as advised,I also take Co Q-10 supplements everyday with the Statin, since that medication can many times delete the Q-10 in your body which is highly needed. You need a minimum of 200mg a day(usually 100mg,twice a day)or you can get 200mg tablets or gummies that you can take once a day.But it is advised to take it at separate intervals in the day for better absorption. So,after much research and dosage levels that can go as high as 1000mg a day(for co-Q),I decided to take two 200mg gummies twice a day. That is a total 400mg a day.Trouble is,I forget to take some of the meds once in a while.I am not sure of all of the side effects of a statin, but I am sure there are a few. But,to the best of my knowledge,I have no side effects...yet.And I have been on Statins for about 2 years now.

More fish and olive oil I suppose! You know, the Japanese,at least on many of the outer islands have a life expectancy that is much higher than in the USA and other countries. It is due, they say to their diet. But I wonder if simple genetics plays a more important role?
