My blitz rating on Instantchess was: 2534 It had everything.Opponent rating preselects,which countries you preferred the computer to search for you,watching opponents play each other live and of course,top rated blitz players like me as opponents.While GK has some great interfaces for blitz,they are light years away from any kind of REAL rated or unrated blitz high quality features.So,for those who REALLY want to explore the world of blitz...first class,you must move beyond the borders of GK! Here is the list of the best on the net.I have been a member of most of them but recommend either ICC or Red Hot Pawn. ICC being the better of the two.Many GM's and IM's play on ICC.They even have a section where you can play against a strong blitz computer and actually tune the blitz computer rating down to match yours.They also have a section for you to use your own chess program against another computer OR human opponent!!Is that not cheating?No...because you MUST place a flag by your handle name INDICATING that YOU ARE using a program!!!See?That is not cheating.But,if you fail to do that marker by your name and begin winning a small handful of games...they have a computer cross check analysis program to detect cheaters!And you get warned to immediately put a flag on your name.If you fail to do that immediately...you get ejected out of ICC!So,like I said,many blitz players have no idea what is out there in cyberspace! ICC may be a bit complicated to understand all the bells and whistles at first,but eventually you will adapt.Sure,blitz is not for everyone,but if it becomes a side passion of yours,just like me,then try out one of the sites below.I am going to post an epitaph for Instantchess,since it was my holy grail of blitz sites!I will miss you Instantchess!! Keep in mind before you go to any of these blitz sites,that they come and go.So,by the time you try to join one of them,they may be closed.ICC will probably last as well as Red Hot Pawn,but I make no guarantees!Sites like the ones below will definitely hone your blitz skills with all the better options they supply.I am a member of ICC,but have not been active there for a few years.I prefer to keep my handle name secret.But I will tell you that my rating is over 2500. We have been friends for years and I have played against some of the strongest blitz opponents on the planet.Many times late at night,even 2am,I stayed up to play my friends from Iceland,Sweden,Russia,the USA and beyond.Many great times,indeed.Everytime I was pulverized by an opponent,it made me happy,for I knew it was rare to happen,so when it did happen,I learned how to improve.We go back a long way.Your site was exotic,refreshing and different. I learned many of the irregular games like the Basman Defense,the double Sodium Attack opening..1.Na3 then 2.Nh3,my wall of death multiple pawn openings and of course,I honed my skills on my Queen sac games by move #3.Many of those Q sac games are in my club.But the skills to acquire those odd games originates from Instantchess! Goodbye my close friend.You will be missed with tears. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
