thanks for the welcome
j_saki. Well not a lot to tell really born and bred in sunny Devon, been playing chess for many years now but just got back into seriously since September when i discovered GK. Spent five years in NZ where i was fortunate enough to meet become good friends with, and be coached by now IM Dr Vernon Small among others. Other interest include rugby (spectator now i am to old to play!), music (all kinds), and i am an avid student of the game of chess.

Have a reputation for having a wicked sense of humour, and have been described as a cynic. I love to travel, and am also interested in other cultures etc. How about the rest of you guys?

my turn
hi all....34, married, 3 kids (so far?!?!?), own business's. Found online chess year or two ago after playing as a kid...LOVE it!! Not that good at it, occasionally brilliant-usually crap. Born Scotland, lived all over UK and abroad, now in Somerset, travelled lots, done loads of jobs....do a bit of writing (usual ambitions!) Likes music, reading and films. Judo. School Governor. Love my life and being alive. trying to broaden, even more, my tastes in drink, hobbies and experience. Always think of more afterwards but if you want to know anything else just ask.

next in line
Hi everybody my name is Richard Jonathan and im from Grimsby Town, NE Lincs.
I started to play chess to win my brother mainly, it was him who liked to play. I won our school league just to annoy him. I started to travel when i was 17 and i kind of forgot about chess until now some 10 years past.

I like maths...doh!
and studying in general. I like computer programming (started with basic that came from my brother too) c,c++,Java and web based code that sort of thing.
At the moment I'm looking to set up my own small chess club at my homepage where friends can play for free, so be nice to me.

I'm known for my boasting ,sarcasm and I'm told that i can be quite annoying.

Hello everyone..
My name is Leo, I am originally from Bristol. Now living in Richmond in Surrey..or outskirts of London at the end of the district line. I am married with two children, both boys, they are now grown up, one is married and lives in New Zealand.
I am interested in most sports, the only exception being Grand Prix racing...just bores the pants off me. I am a Chelsea fan, not just a " Johnny come lately "...I have followed them for about 30 years. I still retain a soft spot for Bristol Rovers..you never forget your first love
Richmond is a hot-bed of Rugby so I also attend matches locally...London Welsh ( I am half Welsh ), London Scottish, Harlequins, London Irish and Richmond before they slipped down the leagues.
That should do for now. Thankyou for allowing me into the club, I know a couple of members and look foward to meeting the rest.

Hi there Dave..
Great to see you...again. I though it would be a good idea to get away from all those Yanks occasionally...talk about some important stuff. Football, Cricket, Rugby, Eastenders, Coronation Street, The Archers.....

Hi...
I'm Matt, 27 from Kidderminster (it's rubbish, don't come here)....

Born in Solihull, avid supporter of Birmingham City (Liverpool fans shut up..... not a happy bunny at the moment)..... and will be if we go down, I'm not one of these turncoat supporters who only follows the "fashionable" teams.

Other interests include listening to music (a delightful mixture of obscure underground dance, dub, reggae and 80's cheese), playing chess, getting stoned and doing just about as little as possible.

I'm a projectionist, which means I get to see all the latest films. I recommend you all go see Lucky Number Slevin, it's the best film I've seen since Kill Bill.

My favourite drinks are fruit juice and tea, I like biscuits, in particular chocolate chip cookies (no nuts, yuk), and hate vegetables. Favourite food is meat, particularly bird.... turkey and pheasant.

I have a twisted sense of humour, so I apologise in advance for any offence this may cause in the future....

Look forward to participating in some interesting conversations.....

I did my GCSES last year. I have to say bitesize is pretty crap. you find half of it is irrelivent. I found the best thing to do is to print off all the specifications for all your subjects, then you are only revising for the stuff that comes up. Then you can use a revision guide or something, and you can tick off on the spec what you know and what you dont.

2 languages that's tough!!!!!!! Brave man.

I'm not going to be around for 3 weeks because I'm going down under (perth australia), so sorry if it mucks up this tournament thing, but I'll be happy to play anything when I get back.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE
