"Reasonable" includes willingness to engage indiscussions around actual facts not the fake claims made by anti-Muslim forces.   No point in holding ones breath waiting.

Have I made any non-factual statements or fake claims here?
Or, do you mean LS?

<It doesn't matter that the percentage of idiot, terrorist Muslims is small in relation to the entire group of Muslims around the world. One percent of a few billion is a LARGE number.>

Where do you get that 1% number?

<When they are trying to kill you it makes no sense to invite them into the country without extreme vetting. >

Of course not! As long as you use the word "them" to mean "idiot, terrorist Muslims". But I think you mean all Muslims - right?

Please, read this short article - by a Muslim:

www.huffingtonpost.com

<It also makes no sense to know who they are, and where they have been recently (like the British knew about these guys) and then do nothing about it.>

That is a different matter, with which I agree, as you now mean "idiot, terrorist Muslims" with your use of "they". This has to do with the effectiveness of police work.

<It makes NO sense to continue saying that "but most of them are good people" while allowing the few bad percentages to kill and maim your people making them afraid to go anywhere or do anything>

Who is "allowing the few bad percentages to kill and maim"? Nobody!
How many Muslim immigrants have been involved in terror attacks? To my knowledge most Muslim terror has been done by young men born in the country. 9/11 was of course a very notable exception to this.

<As usual, we cannot expect any reasonable, common sense discussion from you>

Well, you seem very sure that the only one here with common sense is yourself. Congratulations, self-confidence is important!

Why other Arab countries broke diplomatic relations with Qatar ?
Another stunning Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) report circulating in the Kremlin today states that Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen have broken all diplomatic and travel ties to the State of Qatar after their receiving confirmation that Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani was behind the “dark web” offering of $150 million to anyone assassinating President Donald Trump—and that this Qatari Emir had secretly vowed to his supporters “would not be in power for long”.

I predict that this Qatar crisis will soon be settled locally. It seems to be based on sheer misunderstandings.

Spoken by someone whose track record is such a broken record of ignorance ans bigotry that deserves being written off. Lesson learned. Sow the wind reap the whirlwind. Apply the epithet to yourself it fits like a glove.

Name-calling, no reasonable discussion, wasn't that your criticism?
I tried to respond by careful discussion - this is the result.

Urban dictionary
I had to look it up to be sure of the precise meaning:

"Prick"

1. a penis
2. derogatory term used to sum up the existance of a worthless a**hole

I assume softaire meant the latter
dmaestro
06-Jun-17, 21:43

You are correct about what that poster meant. I think it fits him very well these days. Some people prove over time they are not worth a serious response. My only regret is ever thinking otherwise. Enough of that one to last a lifetime and then some from my perspective. Done, done, and done.

Don't worry. He insult was unwarranted and off by a country mile. He's just defensive.

I don't really worry about it. I am only profoundly sorry and disappointed. Because I thought I had a friend.
dmaestro

No doubt defensiveness and disappointment by the strong negative reception and very low approvals for Trump has an effect, but the tide of personal attacks and supporting other's personal attacks has been going that way for a while. As well as the defense of deliberate ignorance and bigotry. I'm clear where we stand--we are done. The personal attacks simply clarified where we stood.

What are you even doing here in this club?

I thought you had dropped out because of your hypocrisy for calling some member(s) as crazy or dumb or something stupid like that when you had in fact previously removed some member(s) from your own club for doing exactly the same thing.

Did you actually ever remove yourself from this club... and then sneak back in? Or did you never actually remove yourself... after you had said you were going to do that?
dmaestro

What a pack of lies and personal attacks.

Trying to take the place of someone else you consistently defend I see while they are gone. Congratulations you have got it down.

Your questions are way out of line. Stal applied for membership and was accepted. Just like everyone else here.

Anything beyond that is really none of your business! Certainly using language like 'sneak back in' is uncalled for and reflects your pettiness far more than on anything Stal has done.

I suggest you take several deep breaths and reflect on the animus you bring.

softaire wrote: <In Stalh's case, he actually evicted somebody from his club for daring to call one or more people an "idiot">

Just for the book: That case was openly discussed at the time ad nauseam, and it was made very clear that calling the members of the Club idiots was not the only reason for eviction. Softaire just forgot, or - more likely - never bothered to find out the facts.

You just won't let any discussion go without having the last word.

I DO remember the situation. He called a general group of people as "idiots". YOU made that a big deal and demanded an apology. An apology was not needed, nor given. So, you expelled him from the club.

Now, in this club you are calling people idiots (and while that is not a big deal) I asked if you were hypocritical or would you resign, given that you had done that to SIS. You said that you'd voluntarily resign. I think you did resign.

But, if you ask to come back into the club a day or two later, (to me) that speaks of a lack of character. If you are OK with that (and having everybody know that about your character) it is OK with me.

Now, can we let this topic die a peaceful death?
dmaestro

The facts are and remain there was more than ample reason for the action taken, which was done after prior warnings, and this latest claim is a total misrepresentation of what happened. I have realized it is not an aberration it's a pattern. Some people just prefer "alternate truth" and they don't make very reliable "friends" or productive discussion partners.

You have revised history and published your own alternative facts for years now. Your claims are completely partisan and are never fair, balanced, or correct in regards to conservatives, Republicans, or people with differing views.

I do like your non-partisan posts concerning history, politics, law, religion etc. I have learned a lot from those.

And yours are not? As we have just seen.

To be fair I agree with most I think it's lack of attention to the details of that situation and how it evolved. I've done it myself and jumped to conclusions. Stahl is not making this stuff up however. He's not that type of person.

It's harder when we can't agree on facts because it leads to tensions and misunderstandings.

There are enough disagreements just with the interpretations of facts. For example we can accept that productivity in the U.S. is dropping right now but argue over political views of causes and cures. If however someone did not accept that basic fact, discussions are useless. Which is why it's important to evaluate the factual evidence supporting statements for credibility.

It's one thing to use political hyperbole. All sides do it.

It's another when we have bomb throwers continually tossing it discredited factual claims.

To be fair Softaire has not always taken a hard line when shown he has presented inaccurate facts and not a bomb thrower. But with the rise of alternate "facts" and those bomb throwers advocating these "facts" it's become much more difficult to separate out political bias from the facts assessment and more tempting to not fact check bomb throwers on one side or the other.

Bomb throwers are one thing, but for the rest friendships are usually worth something.
