They have been wearing masks
in China and some other places for a long time. Due to over dependence on Oil and coal burning. If the Scientists are correct, we all will be wearing masks in the near Future. Virus's or not.

The only good reason too not wear a mask is to avoid violent trumpsters. Jon

Is that you in that plague mask?

My current mask is a 4-layer cotton that's homemade. it's a bit hot for the global warming effect in my area, so I'm considering removing one of the layers.

Chuckuschummer13: Thanks for y'alls "on Masks" comment, chucky --- it's apparent that you've crawled out of your RACIST cage again.
Also: You might want to take another look at yourself too.

Thank you. If other studies in the coming months reinforce that one, and none refute it, it's very important info. I don't like sharing info that is any more scary than necessary. And I'm glad the author is as satisfied as he is about masks. But it scares me quite a bit in terms of going in to enclosed spaces, ...especially as the Summer heat increases and AC use with it (if people aren't smart). Luckily, people are pretty good with masks and distancing etc in my area. But they are not perfect. And I worry about places that are less cautious.

Mo-One
Yes, yours truly.

I have another photo I will post. My dad took that one, who you would have gotten to meet had we been able to bike the Hiawatha. Speaking of which, my sister was going to come visit at the end of this month to do just that, with my two nephews. But they cancelled.

Weird, I do NOT have another photo. Tell me what you want as a backdrop and I'll shoot a selfie.

On masks
If I had that wild, wicked look that most leftists have(especially their women), I'd want to wear a mask too.

Leftist Women
Leftists don't own women. That is a conservative thing.

And that wild, wicked look is what draws liberal men to liberal women. Conservative men seem to go after that "pre-pubescent" look, Roy Moore style.

I have not changed my behavior since lock down in any significant way. I go indoors with others as infrequently as possible. Wear a mask and practice physical distancing (social distancing is a stupid term, we want to be social, not physically close).

I have gotten take out a few times which I hadn’t before- best science suggests it’s safe w reasonable precautions.

We’re in the midst of this. Not the end

In Oregon
Starting June 24, people in Multnomah County and a half dozen others will be required by Gov. Brown, via an executive order, to wear face coverings when in grocery stores, pharmacies and other indoor public spaces. The other counties are Clackamas, Washington, Marion, Polk, Hood River and Lincoln. Together with Multnomah, they are home to more than 55% of the state’s population.

that sucks. a big outbreak that is probably at the limit of manageability.

from your link: "A now-deleted video...showed hundreds of worshipers singing, dancing, and jumping around during a service on May 24, before faith communities were allowed to convene in large groups."

meanwhile, in Arizona, ...a split decision?

Generally speaking, the cause of the nationwide increase in cv outbreak is due to Democrat supported BLM protests. At this point, neither Trump nor Democrat supporters will listen to another lockdown.

More unsupported nonsense.

The increase is due to opening up the economy. The protest increase hasn’t been felt yet really... it’s coming.

People are SO dumb
California issues new rules for masks, which are now a political flash point.

Tensions over face masks are growing in the United States, even as several states are seeing surges in coronavirus cases. Mask orders have become a point of point of political contention, with some regarding them as an essential safety measure and others considering them an unacceptable infringement of personal liberty.

Gov. Gavin Newsom of California on Thursday ordered people to wear face masks in most indoor — and some outdoor — public settings. President Trump has eschewed masks in public. This week Gov. Doug Ducey of Arizona, which is also seeing record numbers of new daily cases, gave mayors the power to require wearing masks.

Mr. Newsom’s guidance came as California reported more than 4,000 new cases on Wednesday, a new one-day record.

“Simply put, we are seeing too many people with faces uncovered, putting at risk the real progress we have made in fighting the disease,” Mr. Newsom said.

In Tulsa, Okla., people were lining up early for Mr. Trump’s rally on Saturday, the first since the start of the pandemic.

Officials at the BOK Center, the arena where the rally is scheduled to take place, have asked the campaign for a written health and safety plan detailing precautions it will take.

The White House press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, said this week that attendees would be given face masks, but using them would be optional.

Oklahoma reported a record number of cases on Thursday: 450, up from 259 on Wednesday. It was the fifth consecutive day that levels reached new highs.

Businesses are also getting caught in the fray. American Airlines on Thursday barred a conservative activist who is an ardent supporter of Mr. Trump, one day after he was removed from a flight for refusing to wear a mask.

Separately, the chief executive of AMC Entertainment Holdings, Adam Aron, prompted a backlash on social media by saying that moviegoers would not be required to wear masks at the company’s theaters when they reopen next month.

“We did not want to be drawn into a political controversy,” Mr. Aron said in an interview published on Thursday by Variety magazine. “We thought it might be counterproductive if we forced mask wearing on those people who believe strongly that it is not necessary.”

His comments drew swift criticism.

“How is public health ‘political?’” one person wrote on Twitter.

slow onset of understanding
one thing I've noticed is that there is a lag of some leaders, and people, to grasp things. hopefully, this stupid reluctance to make sensible use of masks will be followed by an increase in leaders' understandings and by a heightened effort to explain to people in a way that gets through their thick heads.

it's odd. but because there had been what looked like the start of a positive trend, this resurgence is in some ways NEW. And, while knowledge re masks has been fairly steady, the importance of using them now - that that hoped for trend didn't happen and there is now a negative trend - might be something that some finally come to understand.

first, leaders need to understand. and then they need to communicate successfully, to remove this hazardous second-guessing. hopefully, they will put out the necessary information in a very persuasive way.
