I'm a realist.
The world does not work on paper.

... well, we all think of ourselves as realists ... some are still pessimistic, some are optimistic ... so it's my guess you're just a pessimistic realist. But, you've still ducked a lot of the questions. Is it better for you just not to engage in honest conversation?

I'm content in the sovereignty of our Lord.
The battle has already been fought - and won. I cannot add to nor can I take away from any of that. I can cry for my nation turning into ashes, but my nation is not my religion. What do you want to know?

... you can believe what you choose to believe, of course. It sounds like you're content to believe that everything is going downhill which may also explain your negativity and pessimism ... but that's OK if that's what you choose. Good luck on your journey ... perhaps you can take solace in the beauty of sunrises each day ... many do with smiles, gratitude, and grace.

It's going to get worse before it gets better.
It's like the Days Before the Flood. When you read it in Genesis, you can see what is going on. I don't care if people make fun of me. I read the signs. The same with the Book of Daniel and Revelations. Those are "love letters" telling us about the Last Days. We are right there.

That does not mean I do not enjoy a sunset or sunrise, that I do not feel pleasure as well as pain, that I that I do not laugh and only cry. I live life because I believe its purpose is not to please myself but to please the one who Created me. To please Him takes faith, and that's not of me. It's a Gift.

... no one is making fun of you. You can live believing it is all getting worse if you wish to, but many believe life is still worth living and that there is much to gain from having a positive attitude about the future rather than a dismal outlook. It's about choice. Again, good luck to you. As for me, I choose to turn the pages of the book and discover things I've never seen before with a great deal of thankfulness for the blessings I've received along the way. It's a beautiful journey.

It is sad that so much of the world takes scriptures as the literal world of god and is so ignorant of the vast
distinction between esoteric and exoteric teachings. Both Christianity and Islamic fundamentalists believe god
will destroy the other in the end days. Self fulfilling results. The esotericist understands god, heaven, hell,
judgement and eternal salvation are within and thus is not confused by the masses.

Bristol Palin still waiting on Obama’s phone call
Bristol Palin is waiting for a phone call from President Obama, the daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin writes on her new blog.

“Dear President Obama, You don’t know my telephone number, but I hope your staff is busy trying to find it,” she writes. “Ever since you called Sandra Fluke after Rush Limbaugh called her a slut, I figured I might be next.”

Palin explains:

Your $1,000,000 donor Bill Maher has said reprehensible things about my family. He’s made fun of my brother because of his Down’s Syndrome. He’s said I was “f—-d so hard a baby fell out.” (In a classy move, he did this while his producers put up the cover of my book, which tells about the forgiveness and redemption I’ve found in God after my past – very public — mistakes.)

maher is a lout too. but there is a difference in these stories. butthead limbaugh called fluke a slut and a prostitute with regards to her involvement in a specific and topical political issue. he tied her political stance to her personal behaviors.

punk maher, on the other hand, was just picking on an easy target in his stand-up comedy routine. surely you are not suggesting obama needs to call every person who is called a bad word in every comedy routine in america?

the situations are totally different. obama would never have called her to apologize except the media grabbed hold of it and blew it up so fluke was put into the national spotlight.

but, i will add,
1) obama calling fluke was clearly a political strategy. and one that certainly will pay off with women.
2) maher is a punk for attacking palin's kids. i think it is unreasonable, and shows poor taste and a lack of imagination. which is sad because maher is also usually very funny.
3) rush is a punk, and mean and not at all funny. plus he is almost always wrong.

1 Million US Dollars
That's how much Maher donated to Barack Obama's campaign. the PResident never gave the money back. Why should he? Hypocrites don't do things like that.

They are both in the public eye and both should take responsibility for the things they say. Maher should not get a free ride because he is a comedian, jokes can be just as damaging as insults.

not sure i agree. comedy has a long, long, long history of being off color, non-pc, and of pillorying public figures.

well...ok...i guess i agree that they should take responsibility for what they say, but that was not softy's point. i bet you anything maher is willing to take responsibility for what he says. softy's point is completely different and totally wrong. saying that, because obama called fluke, he should therefore call palin is not only wrong, but dumb.

i think obama and his strategists made a political calculation that they could garner support among a certain demographic by making that call. expecting him to call palin is crazy. end of story.

Neither remark was appropriate. But there is a difference in the USA anyway for expectations between
commedians who include politics in their acts and the statements of the leading GOP commentator in a live
broadcast to mutli millions who then actually doubles down when confronted. Furthermore the promiscuous
situation that led to bristols pregnancy was already fodder for the public before the remarks were made,
making heer far more notorious than fluke who was obscure until rush attacked her as a slut. This is a falsse
equivalency designed to divert attention from rush. Apples to oranges...

Pretty Simple Criteria
Obama calls Fluke, but does not phone the Palins, does not phone Prejean, does not phone the Bachmanns. So obvious a blindman can see that the Left is the most intolerant, misogynistic, irreligious and racist power group in America. They are never made to apologize for anything - but cry "wolf" whenever it suits their agenda.

It's not dumb
It's called being contrite and intellectually honest. You cannot serve only "some Americans" if you are the President of the United States. This guy will do anything to get elected except fix what's broken.

Comedy
You can use is as an excuse, a gag for your conscience. But it does not work when you consider the very safety, let alone the feelings - of the other person.

The right wing and those like you have never had anything but hate and contempt for Obama. You think he is
a foreigner and a marxist. You are out to impose your right wing agenda on the rest of us in your endless
cultural war. I do not want a theocratic plutocracy, thanks. Compromise is not in your vovabulary so cut the
phony posturing that Obama has not tried compromise.

<<Comedy has a long, long, long history of being off color, non-pc, and of pillorying public figures.>>

I agree, and so it should remain, but the changing of a statement to a joke does not automatically make it ok. George Carlin once argued that anything can be funny (citing rape as an example), and I agree, but with controversial and personal subjects it must be carefully and cleverly done. In the example, Maher was not careful and not clever, he was just being a shock jock (just like our friend Rush). In any case I think we agree that both comments were inappropriate.

I was not making any comment with regard to softy's point. I merely contend that the two situations are definitely comparible. Maher is not different simply by virtue of the fact that he is a comedian.

<<i think obama and his strategists made a political calculation that they could garner support among a certain demographic by making that call.>>

Doesn't that just take all the meaning out of the gesture though? Does it not make Obama just another PR savvy pandering politician? I know the answer, he is, because they all are. I just wish our elected officials didn't have to play this game.

JP Morgan Chase just announced it was closing the bank accounts for the Vatican. What do you think that might mean, as far as Barack Obama is concerned?

of course, as you well know. but, his politics are so much better than the republicans that i can tolerate his pandering if only to keep theocrats like santorum and 'give-it-all-to-the-rich' weasels like gingrich and romney out of the white house.

as you know, i am not a huge obama fan. but i do understand that he is 1000 times bette rthan anyone the republicans have put forward.

What are Barack Obama's accomplishments?
And no - you don't get to say he killed Usama bin Laden because Seal Team Six did that. Not a hard decision, you know.

Answer honestly. What has Obama done for the United States?

The implications of an alleged money laundering scheme ivolving the vatican bank resuting in the jp morgan
act are not clear. I do think the vatican has joined evangelicals in a cultural and political war, but the vatican
has lots of baggage here, and it has little traction in secular europe. I think politically in the USA this could
potentially weaken the vatican slightly depending on what is uncovered. Not sure what other impact on
obama would be.

Not a hard decision? Then why did republican dod sec gates say of obama it was very gutsy? Maybe because
he is less partisan...as you should know.
