they closed his account for just 12 hrs. Big deal. Half measures. As the danger grows. Obviously he has gone berserk. He needs to be arrested immediately. But i fear he will not be. I am sickened. And people called me paranoid and unhinged. I and many here, warned beforehand.

Trump permanently banned from Twitter following review
Jeff TavssPosted at 4:31 PM, Jan 08, 2021 and last updated 6:31 PM, Jan 08, 2021
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump has been permanently banned by Twitter after a review by the social media platform feared the risk of further incitement of violence.

Trump's account was suspended for 12 hours after Twitter felt the president's posts following the US Capitol insurrection called for more violence.

Twitter explained why it had banned Trump on its website Friday.

"In the context of horrific events this week, we made it clear on Wednesday that additional violations of the Twitter Rules would potentially result in this very course of action. Our public interest framework exists to enable the public to hear from elected officials and world leaders directly. It is built on a principle that the people have a right to hold power to account in the open."

Trump Wins Again
As a private citizen and titular head of the Republican party for the next 4 years, the President, the real President, can inflict terrible damage on his enemies, and he will. The Democrats and RINOS will pay a terrible price for their crimes against this president, and you can take that to the bank. As a former native of the formerly great state of New York(pre Cuomo and De Blasio}, I know what a tough New Yorker like Trump is capable of. Have a care Pelosi and company!

Joe Biden is becoming like Russian Putin.
Similar to Putin Joe Biden will control everything. There is no separation of 3 powers, 1. executive, 2. judiciary and 3. legislative branches and our freedom that we so cherished will be lost. Giant media such as twitter, facebook endorse endorse Biden because they have business interest worldwide and want to shut down the competition such as Parler and even FOX news.

Law abiding, tax paying US citizens will not tolerate such corrupt government.

I know you guys just like to talk at people for your own personal enjoyment to gratify yourself in some way. I do support freedom of religion as it is written in the constitution. However your current chosen Idol of worship and devotion really isn't worthy of you.

But hey you have free will after all. I just don't think you realize how sad and pathetic your post's sound to normal everyday working people. But don't take my word for it.

Yea, Chaz, and I sometimes wonder if trump might be as worried about the Mob as he's worried about the Law when he gets back on the street.

He might well owe the mafia some dough, a few unfulfilled favors (pardons, etc) and possibly some pay-back for jobs done poorly.

I'm almost looking forward to hearing the fun news that might pops-up about him after he leaves office.

Censorship?
I wonder. Can a bar 86 a customer who consistently violates bar policy?

Can a newspaper refuse to publish letters to the editor that are full of lies and incitements to violence?

Am I free to shout 'Fire!" in a crowded theater?

...while I can appreciate (and agree with) Twitter's decision to oust DT's postings from herein out, we really don't have a specific definition of how one determines "truth" or how to draw the line when obvious infractions occur. I think we need a better way to understand "news" and "comments" that are sensitive to various viewpoints. In this case, we had an obvious cause and effect that most folks could relate to ... but it isn't always this clear. I wonder how this will play out ... and how it will be handled (or used) by DT's opponents.

"Right, but dangerous"
Seems about right to me...

Twitter boss: Trump ban is 'right' but 'dangerous'
By James Clayton
North America technology reporter/BBC

Twitter boss Jack Dorsey has said banning US President Donald Trump was the right thing to do.

However, he expressed sadness at what he described as the "extraordinary and untenable circumstances" surrounding Mr Trump's permanent suspension.

He also said the ban was in part a failure of Twitter's, which hadn't done enough to foster "healthy conversation" across its platforms.

Twitter has been praised and criticised for freezing Mr Trump's account.

German leader Angela Merkel and Mexican President Andres Manuel López Obrador - neither an ally of the outgoing US president - spoke out against the tech titan's move.

In a long Twitter thread, Twitter's chief said he did not celebrate or feel pride in the ban - which came after the Capitol riot last week.

The BBC is not responsible for the content of external sites.
He reiterated that removing the president from Twitter was made after "a clear warning" to Mr Trump.

"We made a decision with the best information we had based on threats to physical safety both on and off Twitter," Mr Dorsey said.

He also accepted that the move would have consequences for an open and free internet.

"Having to take these actions fragment the public conversation. They divide us….And sets a precedent I feel is dangerous."

He also addressed criticism that just a handful of tech bosses can make decisions on who does and doesn't have a voice on the internet - and on accusations of censorship.

"A company making a business decision to moderate itself is different from a government removing access, yet can feel much the same," said Mr Dorsey.

The decision to remove users, posts and tweets has been criticised by some for violating First Amendment - free speech - rights.

However, big tech firms generally argue that as they are private companies, and not state actors, this law does not apply when they moderate their platforms.

Facebook and YouTube have taken steps to silence the president, while Amazon shut down Parler, an app widely used by his supporters.

Now Snapchat has also announced that Mr Trump will be permanently banned from its platform too.

It had already announced an indefinite suspension, but has now decided that "in the interest of public safety and based on his attempts to spread misinformation, hate speech, and incite violence" to permanently terminate his account.

On Monday, the German chancellor's spokesperson said she found the social media ban "problematic". And the Mexican president said: "I don't like anybody being censored."

Incoming US President-elect Joe Biden has said he wants companies like Facebook and Twitter to do more to take down hate speech and fake news.

He has previously said he wants to repeal Section 230, a law protecting social media companies from being sued for the things people post.

It's not clear how Mr Biden intends to regulate Big Tech, though it's likely to be a legislative focus of his.

news media and others should perhaps start and ongoing education effort explaining what "freedom of speech" in the first amendment is and isn't. even here, some seem to think it is something it isn't. while what the amendment concerns "seems" obvious, it is is really more subtle and a little difficult to understand without making an effort to do so. not hard to understand. but somewhat easy to misunderstand, perhaps.

you can still have something similar here or elsewhere of course (twitter, some forum, or wherever). but that amendment has specific limits and exclusions. it may be better that people don't get upset over a misunderstanding.

people may change the channel or stop listening. so, it needs to be done cleverly. maybe short, dense, and frequently repeated is the way to go, conveying clear info quickly so that people aren't put off but still get a better understanding of the issue.

...very educational response, thanks!

I, too, want to believe newscasts, political commentaries, and general public assessments as being honest (for the most part) and forthcoming. I feel intellectually wounded as I watch this part of the world evolve into information management, well-paid propaganda, and calculated persuasion techniques. The average person will succumb to many such untoward stimuli.

Truth
Truth has evidence to support it.

Lies have no evidence. One way to recognize. Lie is any statement simply repeated again and again absent physical support. We know Trump to be a liar because when asked for evidence he simply repeats the lie.

"Well that escalated steadily for four years.". Salient comment on Trump's Beer House Putsch.
