![]() in Texas. They just over reacted to nothing more than a big thunderstorm to hit Texas. Sure Louisiana was hit but who cares. Houston & Galveston were just slightly damaged. All the money and anxiety that 2.5 million people went through to evacuate was really a big scare purposely perpetrated by our state officials. Almost the entire Texas Gulf coast evacuated ))) Just another joke played on our citizens by an incompetant government. Hindsite is really wonderful folks!! If only we could see the aftermath before it happens. BUT isn't that what we pay our elected officials to be able to do, be psychics? Of course the above is ridiculous but I am just trying to get a jump on the jackasses that criticize everything. |

![]() and the media just to test an evacuation plan. I really did not expect any storm. That's why I spent 2 days boarding up glass doors and digging drainage trenches. I honestly thought it was all a big hoax. anyhow, at least we got a thunderstorm out of it and sold millions of $$$ of gasoline to evacuate. The oil companies really made out big time with this uneeded evacuation. )) |

![]() A doctor friend of ours works in one of the Houston hospitals. She is doing her resisdency there. She evacuated to San Antonio. The normal 2.5 hour trip took 13 hours. 10 of those 13 hours was spent within the Houston city limits. A lot has been learned with the past 2 storms. The evacuation of 2.5 million people went fairly well with some glitches but they got out. One of the problems with this evacuation was that a lot of people packed a lot of their belongings into the 2 or 3 family cars and then left. The additional cars really cramped IH 10. I think in the future it will be made public that during an evacuation only 1 car/family or risk being fined. Speaking about fines!! The Texas Attorney General was on TV 2 days ago. When the evacuation was announced a few business owners jacked up the price of gas and bottled water. These businesses have been identified and are paying fines up to $20K per incident. It is being enforced. That may be a warning to businesses in future problem times. |
