Global warming in the Bible?
You bet!

Revelation 16

"8And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.

9And men were scorched with great HEAT, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory."

Now is the time to get things right with God. There is hope today.

Global Warming
Hmmm...interesting.

Although...
Now that I think about it, that could be a temporary punishment, it's not neccessarily permanent. I dont think you can take two verses in Revelation, (where it talks about the END times, therefore you are saying that we are near the end of the world) and take that to mean there is certainly global warming in the Bible. There may ahve been global warming, and these verses might be talking about it, but that is only a possibility, not a certainty.

Agreed.
But it seems however that the Revelation passage is speaking about more than a localized "heat wave". The whole world seems to be in view here. "Global warming" per se. ??? "Global heating" might be better.

Whatever you choose to call it, the world temperature goes up dramatically during the events described in Revelation 16. Cooling the globe off again during the 1000 year millennial reign of Christ will hardly be a problem for God. If He can make it, He can certainly cool it or heat it as it suits His purpose(s).

I agree.
You are right. It DOES seem as though it were talking about heating on a large scale, and possibly even the whole world. All I am saying is that, though it does seem logical, we are still ASSUMING, and therefore global warming is not a certainty, but a very logical possibility.

What Global warming?
I read the above with interest. There is no scientific data supporting the hypothesis that the earth's climate is changing, all innuendo to the contrary. The ocean's level is not rising. Only local variations in temperature have been measured, and on average the earth's mean temperature has not risen one degree in the last 140 years (since reliable records have been kept). These are the facts.

Rev. 1.1 "...things which must shortly take place." 2000 years is stretching "shortly" a bit.
Rev. 1.3b "...for the time is near." both quotes NKJV

To take the Revelation of Jesus Christ literally is at best a misconception. This great and last book is full of symbolic language, like the Book of Daniel.

All events recorded in the Revelation of Jesus Christ (and it is His revelation, not ours for speculation purposes) have been fulfilled in history, except the second coming of Christ, the end of time, and the destruction of this world. The "end times" have been since Christ ascended.
Yes, I am an "amillenialist", am not averse to controversy over this subject, and do not deny that many christians are scattered throughout the endless divisions of protestant denominations, and other churches. Most (it seems) are premillenialists (believing in a 1000 yr reign of Christ on earth, in the future...others are amillenialists, believing Christ is yet to come to claim his bride, the church of God, which no man can join you to, only Christ can take you into his church..."I am the door." John 10.9

A few are post-millenialists, believing Christ will come after a 1000 yr time of peace on earth. I wont risk getting kicked out of this club the day after I joined, and was so warmly accepted, but we MUST put our trust, belief, minds, and lives in Christ's hands. All who call themselves christians must forsake sin, believe the Holy Bible IS the word of God, and must be humble enough to know they don't have all the answers. But in Gods Word we find what we need to be victorious IN THIS WORLD.

I beg to differ. :-)
As a Bible literalist, I take Revelation as literally as the language allows me to. I have a
feeling that many of the judgements promised there are just waiting to descend upon this
world. We don't kick people out for having differing opinions.

Just keep the tone positive and respectful, and support your views with the Scriptures
themselves. Stay within these guidelines and all will be well.

I agree with fiver
The book of Revelation is possibly as symbolic as you can get. There are many, many references to things of the day and age when that was written, such as "the seven hills of Babylon", or Rome. It seems to me that Revelation is both a prophetic book as well as a book of coded hope to those oppressed by the hated Romans, saying that a brighter future is ahead. If you read closely, you will see what I mean...
