2 votes for Nc3
2 votes for exd4
So we need a tie breaker, unless someone wants to change thier vote.

. . .
After viewing the video presentation listed above regarding the French Defense, I'm going to stick with exd4. However, I'm still open to further arguments in favor of Nc3.

Actual Unrated Game for Analysis
Fatcat2, would you consider allowing me to challenge you to an unrated game that follows this challenge for analytical purposes? The CM vs. KOH challenge has such a game for the same purpose. I must admit, I'm experiencing some difficulty following the game when the board is on one page and our arguments are on another. I would also like the capability of printing the board for even further analysis. [My memory isn't what it used to be.  ]Thank you for your consider in this.

Already there :-)
I think you've missed something - doji has already challenged me to an unrated, analysis game for exactly the same purpose, here: game

It is true what kendo-ka says: the theory gives Nc3 as the most common. To get things going, let us play Nc3....

So, this gives then 3 votes for Nc3, I will post the move.

4. e5
The Winawer variation, looks like we get to play e5 after all. Next Black will most likely play c5 attacking our center.

4.e5
is also my vote, and I think you are right hbird1830!!

This game is moving fast :)
I'll certainly go along with 4.e5

I suggest
5. Bb5+ to be able to play 6. Nge2. If 5. Nge2 should be played, the bishop is stuck on f1 and we will have a "castling problem". If 5. Nc3 should be played, fatcat2 can play 5... Bxc3+; 6.bxc3 and then we have two pawns on the same row, I don't like this in this position. What do you bunch think?
kendo-ka

Double pawns. :)
Judging by the gameknot database and the opening book I have, the move to make is a3. I have to say its probably the most likely move I'd make against this variation of the French Defence. Never fear doubled pawns sometimes they are a strength rather than a weakness.

Another move we could make is dxc5. But I'd rather go with a3

I agree with a3

5. a3
I, too, agree with a3. We need to rid of the pin posed by black's bishop.

Move 6. bxc3
I think we can all agree that bxc3 is our only viable play.

Yep, we can, I think!

7.Qg4
Not a move I would usually play since the queen is coming out early. However its not going to be chased away by a knight so it looks okay.

I'm voting Qg4

I would also be fine with Nf3 which is more my sort of move in this situation.

I didn't see that one but sure have possibility's, good thinking. I vote for 7. Qg4 too!!
