8...Bb4
8...Bb4 White wants to play Bxd5 winning the pawn because of the knight pin on f6. Now after 9.0-0 Bxc3 10.bxc3 Qc7 black is OK even if white plays 11.Bxf6 giving us a doubled pawn.

Anyone

9. .. Bxc3
better in my opinion. We can castle later.

9...Bxc3
9...Bxc3 followed by Nbd7, the e5 pawn is unguarded.

Suggestions
anyone? Anyone of the club can do moves, unless you do suggestions for the Elite Pawn Chess Club, of course.

Nbd7
10. ... Nbd7 Seems to be the best move, as it guards the e5 pawn as caknight previously pointed out.

Nbd7
Seems like the square the knight is destined to develop to.

11 ... h6
O-O drops the e5 pawn to 12.Nxe5 Nxe5 13.Rxe5 It looks like our K will be stuck in the center for a few more moves.

Actually, I don't like defending e5. We should look to push the e pawn to e4, which will give white problems.
Unfortunately 11 ... e4 right away also loses the pawn to 12.dxe4 dxe4 13.Rxe4 because the Nf6 is pinned.

So I suggest 11 ... h6. Then,

if 12.Bxf6 we can seriously consider recapturing with the g-pawn, supporting e5 and giving us a half-open g-file to attack the white king.

if 12.Bd2, the Nf6 is no longer pinned, and we can play 12 ... e4.

if 12. Bh4, we can play 12 ... Qc7, defending e5 and at the same time putting pressure on c3 now that the white DSB is off the c1-h6 diagonal and can't come back to defend.

h6
Seems good to me.

11.Qc7
I like 11.Qc7 in this position.

h6 or Qc7
11 ... Qc7 is good, too. After 12.Qe2 O-O 13.Nxe5 Qxc3 black is fine. I'm happy with either of these, h6 or Qc7.

Qc7.
That is my final answer

My vote (counts as 10 votes!)
I agree with caknight; 11...Qc7 is my choice. It breaks the pin on our f6 Knight, defends our pawn on e5, and attacks the White pawn on c3- all in one move!
doji

So
11... Qc7 is the move! I will post it.

0-0
If 12. ... Nxe5, then white plays Bf4 followed by d4.
But we also have to watch out in this line: 12. ... Qxc3 13. Nxd7 Nxd7 14. Bxd5, as the bishop is now pinned to the king.
I think that we are to lose a pawn in every scenario, so we might as well get our king to safety in the process.
0-0 is my choice
(Note: there is probably a better move, so you have to correct me!)

Move 12. O-O
I also vote for a kingside castle. I'm most familiar with the Classical Opening which mandates the first move to be either e4 . . . e5 or d4 . . . d5 followed by the movement of all minor pieces from their home rank and the connection of rooks via a kingside (preferable) or queenside castle. We need to castle now while the tactic is possible without losing momentum.

12 ... Nxe5
Ack! I guess we should have played 11 ... h6 after all. Oh well, I didn't see 12.Nxe5 either.

we can regain the pawn after 12 ... Nxe5 13.Bf4 Nfd7 14.d4 Qxc3 15.dxe5 (or 15.Bxe5 Nxe5 16.dxe5) Qc6

And our position isn't bad. Our isolated d pawn is no weaker than white's c pawn, and with a white pawn on e5 the Re1 looks silly, and white has trouble coordinating any kind of attack on our king.

We're going to play ... O-O and ... Rc8 the next two moves after that and get some play on the c file.

If we panic and play O-O right away, we get nothing for the pawn. White can defend the c3 pawn by simply playing Bd2, we don't have a DSB to contest it, we're stuck defending the isolated d pawn, and white controls the e file.

I vote Nxe5.

My thoughts
We don't want to castle O-O-O (Queenside), because our f6 Knight is then pinned to our d8 Rook, and our King would be on an open file. If we move 12...Nxe5 and White pins our Knight by 13.Bf4, we will not be able to keep the extra Knight. Castling Kingside is boring, but safe; 12.O-O gets my vote.
