11 ... h6Actually, I don't like defending e5. We should look to push the e pawn to e4, which will give white problems. Unfortunately 11 ... e4 right away also loses the pawn to 12.dxe4 dxe4 13.Rxe4 because the Nf6 is pinned. So I suggest 11 ... h6. Then, if 12.Bxf6 we can seriously consider recapturing with the g-pawn, supporting e5 and giving us a half-open g-file to attack the white king. if 12.Bd2, the Nf6 is no longer pinned, and we can play 12 ... e4. if 12. Bh4, we can play 12 ... Qc7, defending e5 and at the same time putting pressure on c3 now that the white DSB is off the c1-h6 diagonal and can't come back to defend. |

0-0But we also have to watch out in this line: 12. ... Qxc3 13. Nxd7 Nxd7 14. Bxd5, as the bishop is now pinned to the king. I think that we are to lose a pawn in every scenario, so we might as well get our king to safety in the process. 0-0 is my choice (Note: there is probably a better move, so you have to correct me!) |

Move 12. O-O |

12 ... Nxe5we can regain the pawn after 12 ... Nxe5 13.Bf4 Nfd7 14.d4 Qxc3 15.dxe5 (or 15.Bxe5 Nxe5 16.dxe5) Qc6 And our position isn't bad. Our isolated d pawn is no weaker than white's c pawn, and with a white pawn on e5 the Re1 looks silly, and white has trouble coordinating any kind of attack on our king. We're going to play ... O-O and ... Rc8 the next two moves after that and get some play on the c file. If we panic and play O-O right away, we get nothing for the pawn. White can defend the c3 pawn by simply playing Bd2, we don't have a DSB to contest it, we're stuck defending the isolated d pawn, and white controls the e file. I vote Nxe5. |
