15.Bd2
The bishop needs to move. There are perhaps three moves to consider. Be3, Bh4 and Bd2. If we play Bh4 then black plays g5 so the bishop has to go to g3. Be3 helps defend the d4 square but blocks the e-file. I did initially consider playing Be3 however Bd2 seems more flexible. My vote is Bd2

Move 16. Bd2
I concur. I vote for Bd2.

Why...
not 16. Bh4, to go to Bg3, to focus on e5? It seems an important field to have.... I feel with Bd2, we didn't have to play Bg5 before in the first place. Just a thought, like to here ideas. Jo

Move 16 re-assessment
I must agree with dogi on this one after carefully analyzing the scenario he has presented. I am changing my vote to 16. Bh4 (followed by Bg3 dependent upon fatcat2's response).

I also vote Bh4

18. Bd6? to attack his rook on f8 and the pawn on c5? Just a thought, not sure....

I believe you are "on a roll," doji. I must concur with Bd6.

Hopefully this will keep you all on your toes, and introduce some much-needed disagreement in your move choices . My move choice is: 18...Rxf3. Game to analyse: game Your move, Knights of Honour!!!!!

How about
19. Bxf8, I think we have to take his rook.
|
|
19. gxf3
Bxf8 exchanges his rook for our bishop, while gxf3 takes his rook in exchange for one of our pawns. The only drawback to this, of course, is the loss of our castle's integrity. However, I believe we can compensate for this. Note that our bishop is the only minor piece we have remaining versus his two minor ones.
|
doji 17-Jul-09, 03:21
|
But...
When the exchange take place, we lose another pawn on the 3rd line, taking with the bishop forces him to take back our bishop in the first place and with your move Jim, don't underestimate the open line with the king. So, let us wait for other comments.

19. gxf3
A knight and a bishop for a rook just doesn't look good to me. Taking with the pawn may open up our king but I think its probably the better choice. So I'm voting for gxf3

I was...
... in another world, I think, forgot about the loss of the knight. Sorry about this. Yes, now I see that gxf3 is better, and.... I wasn't even drunk, so I can't blame it on the booze... Jo

This is what I am thinking of:
20. Bxc5 Rxc3 21. Rfb1 Rxc2 22. Rxb7 That is, if black follows. If you read this sentence, fatcat2, you read too much - lol
|
|
20. Bxc5
I like Bxc5 as well possibly followed by Bxa7. BTW, I received an error when attempting to follow fatcat2's game link.

Re-assessment
Maybe it is better to play 20. dxc5, because with b6, our bishop is forced to move, so: 20. dxc5 Rxc3 21. Rfb1 Rxc2 22. Rxb7 or 20. dxc5 Rxc3 21. Rfb1 b6 22. cxb6 axb6 23. Rxb6 Rxc2 24. Rb7 Any thoughts?
