Temporary postponement of the challenge
I concur. The game cannot move forward with both of you gone. May you have safe journeys to and from your destinations.

25. Rxe7
Rxe7 is obviously our next move to make.

If fatcat2 then moves his bishop, I then recommend 26. Rxa7; else Re8+ followed by Rxc8, which would give us his bishop as well as his knight. Wishful thinking.

At this pace, we may actually be able to complete this challenge prior to the game's postponement.

Rxe7 is the move.

I think
we should go for Rxa7.
doji
27-Jul-09, 05:46

And I think....
we should go for Ra2, to protect the pawn on c2, he is forced to play with his a-pawn if he wants to keep it.

26. Rxa7
I agree with belgje on this one. Rxa7 would allow us to inch our a pawn toward promotion.

move 26
I'm voting for Rb1
tennesseehiker
29-Jul-09, 13:18

27. Ra8
My vote is Ra8 forking his bishop against his king.
belgje
30-Jul-09, 00:37

My vote
goes to Rd1 to make it difficult for his passed pawns to progress.
doji
30-Jul-09, 03:35

My vote
is the same as belgje, he has to protect his center pawns by Rd1, it will be difficult to promote them. The other proposition, Ra8, won't hold as a fork, he just has to move his king, Rb1 gives us the b-line, which is not bad, but I am a bit afraid of this center pawn, we may not underestimate them.

Suggestion....
Try to go for promotion? So, 28. a4?
jbravo58d
31-Jul-09, 15:40

a4
The only real move we have to put any pressure. Although hindsight being 20/20, I would have rather kept Ra1 if we were going to try and push a pawn.

Kf1
Moving the king to a more central position. Since he is closer to the action than the black king. We might be able to gain an advantage against black with Kf1.
