The Elite Pawn Chess Club vs The Knights of Honor Chess Club.
This is a consultation game between these two clubs.
The previous thread in the Knights of Honor Chess Club became so confusing that we had to start all over again.

A consultation game is where two or more players play one side of the board against the opponent. The opponent is usually equal number of players, but can also be a single player, e.g., Kasparov v world. I think a consultation game where the opposing sides consult with each other on moves would be fun.

So, for members who are in the two clubs and want to play, pick a club and be fair not to look in the thread of the other club.

Enjoy!!

EPCC vs KHCC
Will this be a thematic game & which club has white?

caknight
No it is not a thematic game and EPCC plays white. Jim or I will post the first move when it is made by them.

1.c6
I vote for c6 so we can play the Caro-Kann.

1. ... e5
1. ... e5 lets go with the solid choice, although I do like the Caro-Kann as well.

1...e5
I was going to say 1...b6 but I doubt anyone would go for that...

1...e5
RICHARD RETI "A knowledge of tactics is the foundation of positional play. This is a rule which has stood its test in chess history and one which we cannot impress forcibly enough upon the young chess player.
"A beginner should avoid the Queen's Gambit and French Defence and play open games instead! While he may not win as many games at first, he will in the long run be amply compensated by acquiring a thorough knowledge of the game."

I would also put the Car0-Kann in that list.

2...Nc6
I like this because it is more flexible

2...Nf6
Nf6 gets my vote as well

2...Nf6
2...Nf6 the Berlin Defence, knights before bishops. 2...Nc6 is passive & puts no pressure on the e4 pawn.

Nf6
Seems to give white less flexibility.

Nf6
Also anticipates a d7d5 pawn push.

5 votes for 2. Nf6 (paolo2504, concordborn, caknight, pawnstar2010, sccadams)
1 vote for 2. Nc6 (rookie879)

So, I will post 2. Nf6

3...c6
3...c6 or even Nc6 but not Bc5 in the Bishop's Opening.

3...Nc6
Now can we play it?
pawnstar2010

c6
I prefer c6. I prefer not to develop my queenside knight before advancing the pawn. I'm sure there must be some flaw to this thinking. Also c6 can support a challenge for the centre.
sccadams

c6
To prepare the advance of the d-pawn.
