 Good study tips for chessShare your thoughts about this link! My tips for beginners include: - Play solid, protect your pieces. Blunders are often high (I blunder heaps too dont worry) and material is a serious advantage! - Coordinate with pieces and optimise their effectiveness. I always see beginners trying to carry out an attack with just a queen and a knight, but they are not utilising other pieces at all. - Understand there is a consequence to every move. When you move a piece, you are giving up control or protection of a square or piece or you could be opening a file or blocking something. - Put in some hard work and show some consistency. Grandmasters and 2000 rated players are not born (there are some naturally talented players of course) but all of these guys have put in the hard work, effort, the blood & sweat to get to their level. It's just like any other sport. Chess has different areas to make you a better player: With beginners, I suggest learning basic concepts of tactics and doing very simple puzzles to get you started. Set some goals, maybe do 15-30 minutes of puzzles a day, in a month's time or so, you will see good improvements. - Don't be scared! It doesn't matter if someone has a higher rating than you, got to give things your best shot. Better to die trying rather than not trying! If you see something that might work, go for it!
