Wikipedia covers the gamut on the game of chess--history; terminology; opening, mid-game and endgame strategy; notation; etc. I highly recommend this site for both novices and advanced players alike. The Wikipedia chess article is to chess players as the Harbrace College Handbook is to writers, in my opinion. The chessmaniac site is a free site maintained by chess master, Al Wood. Among other very useful information, the site offers daily puzzles, free chess games (after registration), and a plethora of other related information. I am very interested in the realization of chess websites others have found. Please share such discovered sites with your fellow club members here.

It has a huge amount of stuff in it, puzzles, quizzes, databases, all sorts of activities and it is a pretty heterogeneous community, that is, it has players of all levels. It's free for basic services but paying for premium membership is absolutely worth it.

Chess openings by Adam Bozon.. homepage.ntlworld.com very good for starters and intermediate players chess Statistics homepage.ntlworld.com just a good list on what is what.. and because the only chess program that is running properly on this old P3 400Mhz is PGN Mentor so i use loads of database information.. www.pgnmentor.com and the wiki pages are also good. but i use a different link.. that makes tings easier to find.. en.wikipedia.org And i play real correspondence thematic chess games by email.. so if you like go check. users.skynet.be
