![]() Many of these ideas are concerened with growing the club through increasing awareness of our prescence on GK. Others with the management of the club. All though, have an impact on the members and therefore it's important that we achieve two aims. One is to make this the biggest and best club on GK, two is to ensure that the club represents it's membership. To date members have not have a real chance to influence club direction, at least not in a formal way. You will notice that there are now two new "sticky" forum threads. This one and a "suggestion box" thread. Club notice board: This thread is pretty self explanatory and will be used to bring items of interest quickly and easily to the attention of all club members. Anyone can use it, but it really ought to be reserved for important items otherwise it may lose it's central function as a point of focus to the membership. Suggestion box: This is the place where any club related ideas / thoughts / club views / problems / improvements etc etc can be posted by any and all members. So if you have any bright ideas, post 'em up and let's have a look. (First off though, you might want to check with a mod that it isn't already on our "list"!!) NB: The other item of major note is that there will be changes to the way moderators are appointed. The new format has yet to be finalised but it will involve a more open & inclusive system where a core of mods are supplemented by additonal mods who will serve for a period and then be rotated for a new group. This will give ALL members who want to moderate a chance to do so on a fairly regular basis. I'd ask everyone to remember that DOK is having a bit of a sabbatical at present and so please direct any queries with the above to a moderator. That's not to say that DOK's door is ever fully closed (he still holds the keys to the clubs petty cash tin) but we should try and give him some peace and quiet. Hope this all makes sense! |

![]() place that has become hostile because a few extreme individuals with far leaning ideas have made things uncomfortable for others to participate and share their ideas...that has been rectified. Now we move on...with a kinder gentler version of things. |

![]() Basically, it was (some believe) born just as Muppyman indicated. I used/stole it from echo3's homepage...because it seemed to fit; Sometimes things happen that bear an appearance of evil, impropriety, or wrong doing when no such message was intended -- and in such cases, we ought to be careful not to conclude that actions taken arebased on a certain set of principles or ideas when in fact they may not be based there at all. So...to clear things up; this club needed some changes -- I felt they were necessary and did what I felt needed to be done...but, do not conclude they were done for reasons for which they were not. They were, in fact, well intended and meant to create a better place for the greates number of individuals to share their ideas. DoK |

![]() In my defence though, I didn't read your last post properly. No offence meant. I may be the victim of my own comment! |

![]() The original "shame on those who think it evil" WAS related to the "garter incident" but these days the favoured (though not strictly correct) translation is "Evil to him who evil thinks". This is used by several institutions from the Royal Family to Army Regiments etc. I think the modern translation gives a sensible slant on the saying and one which is very relevant to modern times. |
