Very long, and highly unusual. We know of no asteroid anything like it in our solar system. |

![]() The problem with the explanation is that the craft was tumbling. Maybe to provide artificial gravity? Maybe the control systems had failed? Too bad we could not reconnoiter with it. That would have been awesome. Maybe a sampling mission. We really should try to prepare a mission for the next interloper. As for the comet, they estimate a 10% chance it will break apart. That would be interesting. |
