Mr. Smiley...
Truly enjoyable problem.

*You have convinced yourself that 1.b4+ Bb2! will not be quite enough...
*On searching for a better key you hopefully pick up the right one (which is not so uncommon).
* The white responses to variations 1...Rxb2 and 1...Bxb2 are guaranteed to make you smile  .

I'm really surprised by the low solving rate. Don't misunderstand me: it's a very nice puzzle but, 6%?

And, of course, thanks, thebish.

@iberville
Sorry, I have to correct you here.

In the line Bh8 B*b2, Rh1 Black does not have the defense B*h8 as Q*h8 is mate.

In the lines with Bf6 & Bg7, Black can take the Bishop(s) without the mate, therefore no mate in 3

I just knew the Q was going to go to g2 at some stage...
I tried that as the first move - it looked good, thinking if 1...h3xa2, 2. b4+, Rb2, 3. Rxc1. But of course Black can play 2...Bb2 and there is no mate in 3.
