Bishop tutu
Yes the power of the bishops,Qh6 would be easy to miss for a beginner.

Actual solution isn't that hard to follow--black K is closed in and luring it to h6 is deadly.
But I tried following another line that distracted me.

It looked like RxKn would mate in 3. If Black takes the R with K or Q the Q mates (h6 mate or g5 then h6 mate). Even more interesting, if Black takes the queen, you get the very fascinating discovered mate through 1.RxKn PxQ 2. Rf7+ Kg8 3. Rd7 mate).

But Black escapes the 3-move mate by moving its own Q or light-squared B--allowing it to block the mate on White's light-squared B diagonal (e.g. 1. RxKn Be6. or 1. RxKn Qd5).

Jlhuddle....
I like your analysis, but what if :

1.RxKn PxQ 2. Rf7+ Kg6?

The Power of Sacrifice
To sacrifice the Queen without any material piece in return wouldn't be considered by beginner/low intermediate players. Something I'll consider in future games, probably resulting in a 'D'oh!' moment.
