"Easy" vs "hard"

Today's "easy" puzzle has a 19% solved rate, while today's "hard" puzzle has 18%. Not a lot of difference!

Sometimes I get the impression that the two puzzles for the day are both selected more or less at random, then the one with higher solved rate gets called the easy one and other gets labelled as hard.

alternative?

I went for horse c3 check and then his king can only go to d3 or e3.
then queen to e4 checkmate or do I see thing not correct?

This is really a very hard puzzle. I gave it 4 stars. I finally found the solution by thinking that the Black Knight must be pinned to prevent Ne4 after 1. ... Kd3 2. Bxf5+. Mrs Baird made great puzzles.

Funny, I found the answer to this one comparatively quickly. On the other had, sometimes a puzzle that people declare to be easy can elude my analysis for a long time.
In my case I saw the possibility o Bxf5, which looked too attractive a mate NOT to be part of the solution - but for that to work, I had to counter the possibility of black playing Ne4. There are not that many ways to achieve that.
