Maybe Lutz should submit his composition in a contest to be judged by the pros. I'm sure the judges will see that his entry is an improvement on the original.

Loved the composition. But I think the puzzle is flawed, the lines aren't too pretty, but white has a big material lead.

13. Qxe8!?

... Re3
14. Qxe3 Kf5
15. Nxc5 Kf6
and white mates in 21 moves or less.

... Rf8
14. Nxf8 Nf4
15. Qe4 Be8
16. Qxe8 Rh8
and white mates in 23 moves or less.

I was wondering about this capture and that's an issue with many of these monstrous problems of the past-- there is the clean composed mechanism that takes its time, and there is also a material imbalance that can be exploited early on and should result in mate soon enough.

It turns out this was composed in the context of TT-235 - TT standing for Thematic Tournament. This tournament stipulates that pawn moves and captures are not allowed! The same rules apply to puzzle #233676, which won 2nd prize in this TT-235. This rules out the fifty moves rule there too, like it does in this one. This makes this "heterodox" (with manipulations of the rules) problem in GK's "orthodox" section (conservatively following the FIDE's chess rules--well, sort of, usually, ... everyone always seems to be getting retrograde aspects and castling rights wrong by default)

Finally: see pdb.dieschwalbe.de for Jørgensen's #200!
