1.Qg8 would be mate if h6 were covered. That looks like the job of the Bd2, so the knight needs to get out of the way. Can we do this with check so that Black doesn't have time for a defensive move? One check blocks the way, the other keeps everything open, and the rest is easy to calculate.

I thought The square h6 was covered at first, but when I took a closer look, its not.
