Your "easy" is another man's "hard"... what counts is that it is a correct mate in two with only one way to achieve it

I guess you are right. But one day I will find more than 1 solution to these. I keep trying.

There is more than one solution to this one. I found two solutions, both of which were allowed by the puzzle. Move the king to g3. after that you have the choice of moving the f3 pawn to f2 or you could move the rook to d1. either way it is mate in 2 moves

Awesome, somehow I knew that this had two methods

resendezskyler--the rook to d1 does not work. If white doesn't move his bishop then the rook is blocked from developing. Also, if the white bishop had moved it could still block the checkmate with bishop f1

every time i performed the moving of the rook, it worked just fine. try it again, the bishop doesn't always move in the same place.

you're right, there is a possibility of that mate occurring if the bishop moves (to anywhere in the h through e files, but this mate is contingent upon this fact whereas the advancement of the pawn to f2 is a guaranteed mate. the point of the puzzle is to find the mathematically guaranteed mate

force mate
That's exactly it. Advanced chess players would probably at least try to prevent the rook from creating mate. But this position is a resignation job anyway, as the pawn move is automatic mate. The bases is the king movement which places them in a no-win situation

Yeah, true, my only point is that there was more than one possible way to accomplish the goal in this puzzle and as far as i was concerned, the bishop wasn't about to block the rook since every time i attempted it, it never happened. Either way, i do agree that the mate via the pawn is a better mate.

bishop moves
Of course the bishop doesn't have to block the king either. There is another way to prevent the rook mate by moving bishop to c2. It still doesn't prevent the pawn mate though
