10 years ago that might have been a novelty.
Not anymore !

Well, 10 years ago I wasn't playing chess, so it's a novelty to me, and a nice one.

I was playing chess 10 years ago, but it's still a novelty to me. Neat puzzle.

Nice
I got lucky with the first move and just reasoned it from there as far as zigzagging with the queen.

It is nice to see the old zigzag solution (seen in a couple of others recently), but coming from the other direction.

@bunnyrabbitz
The first move felt almost forced, being the only way to prevent Black from checking and taking the initiative.After that, the second move seemed forced as well, to prevent a pawn promotion. After that, White more or less has to "descend the staircase" to avoid simply repeating the same position. So in a sense the whole sequence isforced.
Not a difficult puzzle, but entertaining and instructive.

Ladder
Anyone who plays go should immediately recognize a ladder. I've never seen one in chess before.

Found it...
...fairly quickly. The first move was easy to find, and then the remainder of the sequence seemed to play itself.

Well, I'm Pleasantly Surprised...
...to see I'm not the first one to get this first try!
It reminds me of the Q vs. R ending.
