Box His Majesty In!

I'm familiar with the principle of the smothered mate but it still took me a while to see the solution. Nicely instructive & a good, useful puzzle.

Classic

Smothered mate like Arabian mate where the enemy K is killed by his own troop.Still a classic puzzle useful for beginners.

Clever take on a classic idea!

This wasn't a standard Smothered Mate tactic, as can be seen by the low solve rate.

If I were scoring this the way some recommend, I'd give this 1 star because I solved it very quickly. But I recognise this is a difficult, attractive puzzle that only scored 25%.

I give it 3 stars for its beauty and difficulty.

Good Puzzle

I recognised the possibility of a smothered mate but it took a little while to see how to set it up. As others have said this puzzle is a good exercise in deploying that tactic.
