one failed attempt
Failed attempt with Ne1+ rather than Ng5+. But after that the
rest falls into place easily.

The key had to be a check move
...because after 2. Ba1 or Bc1 Black has a flight square that Black appears to have no way to cover.

Once I decided I had to begin with a check, I focused on d2 to figure out how that square would be covered in the event of White moving the pawn to block the checking rook. That left only one viable move for the knight.
