Ignored the obvious as never expected a key like this one. That too, for a 1st Prize problem.

It's not right; normally the check key is only allowed on rare occasions, having a thematic motivation. This problem does not seem acceptable to me, especially having taken the first prize.

The first move removes the defence against the second move - which is a legitimate exception IMHO
