Lucky strike!
Perhaps I was lucky since I found the first move in few minutes, The rest is not very hard bit again I think ii is a matter of luck when you deal with a 4 move puzzle r composed by such a celebrity as Sam Lyod.

third lucky guess here! I will study this puzzle further by trying to remake it on create your own puzzle and examine why all other moves are junk.

It's not about lucky.
The puzzle is amazing, but doable if you imagine how to check mate. The black King can't move, that means we just need to bring one more piece in order to win. With Qf2+, we take away one of the attackers and defenders, forcing black to respond in a way black takes care of so many threats: Re4, Nb5, Ne6, even Be5 if we want. Black is lost in the moment we give that first check, because there's no way Black can watch out for every square, as long as we move our King into a safe position. So I don't think is lucky, but rather finding away to overwhelm our opponent.

So-So Puzzle but not a Classic
It's a Loyd's puzzle but not a classic with the capturing of a piece in the first move and coupled with a check.

The capturing of black's knight is forced as it threatens to capture white's bishop. Black's king will have an escape route if white's bishop is removed.

By checking with the first move and allowing black to return with a possible consecutive checking sequence, white is taking (the checks) as good as it is giving. Perhaps that's the gem of this puzzle.

I had the right idea...
...which was to prevent the white K being in check when Black plays 1...Rxe6.
1. Re2 is a good try, but there is no good response to 1...Nxd3+.

I was fixated on how to deal with this move. 1. Qxg1 looked promising, pinning the other knight, but after 1...Qe5! White cannot mate in 4.
I must say I was not expecting a check for the key move. In most puzzles this would be seen as a blemish, but the move is so counter-intuitive that it's still a worthy puzzle.
