The game is nine years old

Pretty sure I won it, and that I played for this idea during the game, but I tried to find the game to no avail, so it is not clear to me anymore in which way I altered the position to make it suitable for the exercise...

Smothered mate

I saw smothered mate idea straight off the bat so the other six moves were easy.In a real game where there is no announcement of mate then not so easy to see but easy to miss.

I'm gonna guess that in the original position, then queen was more actively placed and could stop the mate by sacrifice. Seems like an odd place for the queen.

Yeah I reckon black queen c7, a much more natural square for the queen. After 4... Be6, the mating net falls apart, however, white grabs the queen.

Also, after 1... h6, from c7 the black queen defends against 4. Qf6#, but white still won a piece and is winning with ease.

Obviously I have no idea, it's just fun trying to figure out how it might have gone down.

The moves played the same 5 times, so there must not be any alternatives, no?
