![]() as opposed to those who prefer to use a large screen desktop PC?Just wondering, with all the new generation of players that stare at their phones all day.I prefer my desktop to make moves, message ect, even if I have to wait to get home to make those moves. If I am away from home for a long time,I just use a vacation flag.My opening database for example,is not GK's opening database and is a paid chess database only accessible on my PC,not my smartphone,so I stick to my large screen at home to make moves. Just wondering if the smartphones outnumber the PC desktop computers for GK usage? I would not even use a tablet, since I prefer the large screen on my home PC. Lucas |

![]() computers from repair to rebuilding, adding more cores, finding viruses that the best virus protectors miss and much more. So,whenever I have an issue(rare)with my big PC,he usually fixes it for free for me,since he has a room load of spare parts from other computers in his computer business. So,no smart phones or tablets for me,don't need them. One time,I left my smart phone on the beach in St Barts and it ended up washing away with the high tide. Another time in the Bahamas, some bum stole my entire beach bag away from my chair when he seen me go into the ocean.Of course,my bag contained another phone, but no money. Now,I carry a flip phone around that cost me only 30 Euros. And of course,no GK with a flip phone. Not much worry if the tide washes it away,I will just get another one.Something about a big, bright and vibrant large computer screen to me,cannot be beat and the paper thin keypad I have for fast input typing, beats out other types of phones and perhaps even a tablet. But I am "old school",not like most of you younger guys. |

![]() It seems to be the "new age thing",I suppose?I kind of laugh to myself with everyone staring at their phones on every street corner or in the doctors waiting room.Permanent neck pain will come about in many of the newer generation. Not me.Just like my music, its old(classic)but still appreciated by millions. |

![]() That's probably because your about my age and from the old school like me. There are millions in their teens,20's and 30's that cannot live without a smart phone and practically stare at it all day.I see it all the time.I have a smart phone, but prefer to carry around in my pocket...a small flip phone with no smart technology on it at all.Even texts are difficult....good!!! That's what I want.If you cannot take the time to call me using your voice not some text, then too bad,we will never connect and goodby forever. The younger generation prefers text, but to me,that takes longer than simply dialing a phone number and saying hello!Plus it more "personal" and less "cold",than typed words. As to my PC at home,it has all the best of everything and I do not need to check my bulky smart phone ever.If I am away from home for a long time....days or more, then I simply take a vacation flag on GK.If you will notice, most of my games are 2 day games, not 3 or more.Yet,I still do not need a smart phone.Plus,my personal opening database is not capable of being processed into my smart phone due to its massively large database,so games, using my smartphone would prove inferior. |
