GameKnot related: Can't save puzzle after entering moves.

rich_sposato 16-Jul-10, 11:22	Can't save puzzle after entering moves. Sorry if this problem was posted to forums before, but I looked a bit and could not find it. I entered a new puzzle and after going through various sequences of moves, I thought I was done because all moves I entered previously led to checkmate and it would not allow me to enter new moves. When I clicked on the "Save Puzzle" button, I saw this popup error message: "Unable to save -- the solution has not been fully verified yet! Please enter the responses to all possible moves first." What could I do? None of the buttons allowed me to enter save the moves so far, and no amount of clicking on the board would change anything. The "Undo" button is disabled. The "Reset" button would destroy all the moves I entered so far, so I did not want to click that. The "Edit Position" button would also destroy the moves I entered. Here is the puzzle I wanted to enter with white to mate in a few moves: Any suggestions? Thanks, Rich

rich_sposato 16-Jul-10, 11:38	Most sequences of moves lead to checkmate in 7 moves. A few require 8 moves. Anyhow, do you know why the popup dialog won't allow me to save the puzzle? Or do you have any recommendations for what to do when this problem occurs?
kingdawar 16-Jul-10, 11:40	I think the problem is not conclusive, there is no forced mate in any number of moves. You can only save the puzzle after you have given all variations leading to mate, and in this position there simply is no way to mate in x - there certainly is a way to reach a won position, but that's something entirely different.
