Membership level icons

Can anybody tell the membership level of a player by looking at their pawn icon?
The only one I can distinguish is the silver.

It's been suggested at least fifteen times in the past few years. It might even be on the to-do list already.

...and if there is separate pawn color icons for the various level of memberships,there definitely should be a different pawn color icon or some other kind of icon for the life members that are gold and life members that are higher than gold.This is only fair I think.
I know the subject has been discussed previously,but since it has been brought up again...well.....

I'd like my own membership level icon to be a nice, shiny, metallic blue...and I'd like arms...no tattoos.

Why not

use a pawn for silver, then different chess pieces for the more advanced subscriptions? Next
level could be a knight, followed by bishop, rook and queen, if they go that far.

ps - jk.....I think it's pretty overwhelming that most people want different "level" icons.....and btw Mike, I'm still waiting on my lifetime supply of platinum;)

We've considered it many times, but didn't want to create the whole system of castes or classes, if you will. We value and appreciate every single premium subscriber, be they Gold or Titanium. Plus, practically speaking, it's not that easy to make the color of gold, silver, platinum, titanium, etc. be distinctive and distinguishable enough from one another. You can always express your own creativity through your account's avatar, if you wish.

Yes, that's why I expected the names of the membership levels to be changed at some point or another. Silver/Gold/Platinum/Titanium is what you thought out in... 2002? Why not make it something like Pawn/Bishop/Queen/King; more chess-related.

The membership castes (as you call it) are currently hidden and every now and then this leads to unclear positions (to keep it chessy)

I can't see what casted or classes have to do with the suggestion to give a different chess piece to a premium subscriber depending on the type he bought. If you don't want to point out the difference between the type of paying members then what's the silver icon all about?

It would just be interesting to know what type of account people have you play against. Just as it is interesting to know whether you're playing a paying or a non-paying member. Not that it matters though ... but it's nice to know.

And the color you use .... I'm sure most of us don't really care about that ... gold, silver, brown, blue, purple with yellow dots ... you choose!

Well,if the colors and/or icons will not ever change,then perhaps the words:
Membership level:___________ can be placed somewhere on a members profile....perhaps
somewhere under the percentile rating box.So it would be like Membership level:Silver or
Membership level:Titanium or Membership level:Gold Life (for example).
No room?I think there is.Simply to add one additional small line somewhere.
Just an idea.This way,no concern about colors,piece symbols ect ect.

Of course,like me,I can "type"that in...but its better when it is written out in better looking solid/permanent orange GK letters.Besides,someone could "exaggerate"and type in anything in their profile.But the GK lettering would be a better "seal of authenticity"!

Did I say orange letters above?Well,I meant white letters like the other parts of the profile or any color for that matter!
