Such a thing as class"A" standings?
Have noticed while reviewing annotations that there are some who hold a "class "A" " rating...
Was wondering what qualifies as that plus how is it achieved?

I will certainly clarify!
Hi William!

I will set out the classifications as clearly as possible. Anybody graded under 1200 is a Class E player. Anybody graded 1200-1399 is Class D, 1400-1599 is Class C, 1600-1799 is Class B and 1800-1999 is Class A. 2000-2199 is Expert, 2200-2399 is Master, 2400-2499 is International Master and anybody 2500 and above is a Grandmaster.

Hope this helps.

In reality...
a more precise rating breakdown added to Joanne list would be...

class E: 1199-1000
class F: 999-800
class G: 799-600
class H: 599-400
class I: 399-200
class J:199/below

Atleast this is the way of the USCF.The way GK considers it,I really don't know for sure.
My rating here is presently 2466,but I consider myself a senior master,rather than an IM.
Atleast thats what my USCF certificate title states outside of GK,so thats what I go by since it is official.

Great replies!
Ta and js1, thank you very much for quick accurate answers! I was real fuzzy on the subject due to not having an affiliation with USCF since early 70.s!! I'm real hopeful that GK and these kind of chat will propel my rating near that stat or beyond. Always with your assistance...... thekingni.
