Game Notes and Analysis
Hi everyone!

When I analyse the board I like to copy and paste my analysis into my games notes. It is also a very quick method of either explaining resignation, draw claims or even announcing mate on my opponent. Trouble is, when I do paste the analysis into my game notes it comes up like this:-

18.

Be6

b6

19.

Nd5+

Nxd5

20.

Bxd5

Ne5

21.

f4

Kb7

22.

fxe5

Rxf1+

23.

Kxf1

cxd5

As you can see, it is very time consuming to knock this back into readable format. Do you gameknot guys have any idea of how I can fix this problem?

Please advise.

Hi Joanne ... mine does it too.
I believe it is to do with the Analysis Board score sheet being a program rather than just text ... that the moves each enter seperately as an Input, each of which allows a given space that Must be used on each input!? Rather like a spreadsheet , or d-base like File Express was, perhaps. So you get all the spaces and separations of the format when it "Reports".

Yes it is not worth deleting out all the gaps to be readable. All I can tell you is what I just tried that "succeeded" in a manner.

First, I made my Analysis Board Moves. Then instead of Right Clicking them off of the Score Sheet there to COPY, ... I went to the EXPORT area and asked for the PGN.

Then very carefully tried to RT Click and color only the last moves ... but failed at That. It insists you must take the Entire Game PGN text. (Colors it ALL for COPY, now matter what you try for) However, this did not turn out as badly as feared.

I took that PGN, and PASTE it to game NOTES. Once it is There you Can RT CLICK and color the early part of the game you dont want in NOTES, and DELETE or CUT that. Then the part you wanted, the Analysis Var., remains, and Saves as nicely readable.

Maybe someone has a better way ... ( or you Can run a Game Annotation opened to put your notes there if you wish.) But the PGN/ Copy/Paste/Delete/SAVE route seems less bothersome to me than trying to shape up the Score Sheet.

Oh yes ... to mention the
Problem potential I see from trying my PGN method.

If the PGN is too large to Fit in the NOTES space to begin with then I suppose it may refuse it, or else truncate off the very moves at the end that you want to see. And it would need shortened by DELETION before Saving to notes then. You can send yourself a PM or the info, or just use the PM writing page, or this forum posting box to put the pgn copy on to paste/color/delete to size. Yet another step.

I start to wonder; if it might be less complicated than this is becoming; to <NOTEBOOK> the info or ChessBasing, or . . . create a tribal dance & pass down the story of Variations from generation to next ?
