Peace Goes to War, Soren *grin*?
I hope to capture at least a few Kings! I think we have an outstanding team and a great chance to win any section they put us into. Gook luck and good chess, everyone!

When Do Games Begin?
When will our games start, and what do we need to do before then to get set up on the website?

Loren

Just Missed!
I was looking at the CL posts at the ICCF website and they promoted some additional teams from C to B due to dropouts in B. They went down to 3rd place teams with 23.5 points, so they ALMOST made it to "Peace"!

Oh, well, we can score more points in C, eh?

Highest regards,

I believe
I have been reading that the games will start in the end of January, but perhaps you can read more here: www.iccf-webchess.com
However our captain will return with whatever you will be needing Loren. By the way your ICCF id is your access to the webserver see here: www.iccf-webchess.com

I'm really looking forward to the games starting!

Best wishes

CL FAQ Says:
"This season will start on 15/01/2010."

Since that is one week and I do not have an ICCF id yet, I was asking!

I have
received my start letter this morning my local time and the games will start on the 25th of January, but you can of course start them whenever you feel like before!

Go peacemakers and make us proud!!!!!

Time to fight.
Dear teammates:

We already have the games available. I wish you all the luck in the world to confront this new session of the CL. Be careful about casual games from the beginning of session that are unexpected defeat. It is often quite useful to observe our opponents' past games which gives us an idea of how they play.

The Argentine team is known to us already and have a great level, and the Russian teams with great technique and control of the Italian teams.

I fully
agree with Carlos- always be alert and never loose concentration with these games here!!

Best of luck to all my teammates!

2 Games Underway
Two of my opponents have started up already, so I've begun. I have not started my White games yet; first I am reviewing both ChessBase database (about half of my opponents show up there) and their old games available at the ICCF site for previous tournaments. Banzai, teammates!

Another excellent
way to view some of your opponents games are, to click on there names at ICCF and further click on "events" and games were they have participated on ICCF will show up!

I use Soren's method......
Dear Friends,

I have to thank 'the gift' that I have made a name as board # 1. There are some of my opponents that after playing over 200 games in ICCF have not lost even one.
.... and in some cases not meeting a structure that can assure me half a point with the potential to reach the whole point if things were good.
But I will continue studying.

Carlos

7,5 out of 12 would be a great result for me.
cairo
11-Jan-10, 15:35

7,5 out of 12
would be an outstanding result Carlos and I know you are capable of that, but I'm sure you will also take the last 0,5 point which means you will score your first IM-norm, way to go Iberian Lion!!!

Best wishes

Excellent Goal!
Good luck to both of you with norm possibilities!

Yes, that is what I meant about their games on the ICCF site. Since I also have an excellent ChessBase DB with about 5 million games in it, I also checked there to see if the opponents had any games there. Some had none, but some had both OTB and CC games there, so it was interesting to compare their OTB play and openings with their CC ones.

Two Alekhine's and a Benko so far with Black . . .

My openings
so far with the black pieces:

2 Sicilian
1 Dutch
1 Slav

I haven't yet opened my white games.

Just to avoid any misunderstanding. (I know you gentlemen know the rules) We are not allowed to discuss any live positions in any forums, also remember this:
The team mates and captain can see the games live after 0 games are finished in the event. Live transmission is delayed by 5 moves.

Once again Peace Makers, "Go crush some skulls on the checked board" and make us proud!!!!

Question
Do you guys use engines for your games there?

Soren!! Well Played!
Like Carlos said, draws with Black are usually welcome, especially against a tough opponent.

HK:
Because I have heard different things about the use of computers in ICCF games, I take the safe road and don't use them there, either. I DO use an extensive database and have a decent library, though! I also use a computer to test new ideas in my openings (but not when I am currently playing those positions).

Loren

Peace: Power that Preserves - Black

When I decided to start combining 23 .- ... Qxb2 honestly thought the game was won .... but I did not see 25 .- ND1. Well, in any case is a good result with black.
PS: It's amazing (and terrific for me chess knowledge), seeing the defenses Loren practice. You really have to pray that the middle game reaches and impose your big positional quality.
