(Looks natural, but Nc3 is actually a better try, though White has the edge after 22.Rxc3! followed by winning the c3 P and continuing to attack Black's weaknesses rather than regaining the exchange.) 22.Be4! (Black had anticipated Rxc5 or Nxb7 when Black has good compensation.) Ba8 23.Bxd5 exd5 24.Qb5 (I spent a long time looking at Qg4 here with a strong attack. Projections

I have won 2 so far and hope to win another 3. One game is clearly lost and in another I stand worse but have an interesting idea which might save a draw if it works out (but don't count chickens until they are hatched.) In one of the two remaining I have material but probably should draw the ending, and in the final game the position is stable and my only winning chance is to hope my opponent tries something aggressive--right now he's just shifting wood around and avoiding any commitment. Assuming a draw there, I will likely have either 7.5 or 8 depending on whether my desperate plan works. I probably should have scored about a point higher, but for a couple of brain failures (see Taranto above.)

Good Job, Carlos!

Very convincing win against one of our rivals--hurrah! I tend to think that both this line and the Botvinnik favor White in CC. Black's tactics are pretty difficult to meet OTB unless you are prepared like Kasparov always was, but White seems to score an excellent % in CC.

Loren (whose next move in one game will finally give up his material advantage and that will soon result in L's defeat, though I can stall for a few more moves without looking like a poor sport--alas, but I warned you that this loss was coming ever since the opening!)

Unfortunately I know the game you speak of and, indeed, is long dead, but I think it was positive to keep it alive for a while.

In my remaining games, I'm quite sure that I have no risk of defeat at all, while a victory is possible.

I think that finishing second is possible, but will be within half a point.
