DrawI know you are disappointed Loren, but playing at ICCF is a totally different experience, compared to GK. I have over the years been in many similar situations like you describe so good above and even lost a winning game on the same account, but at least you secured the draw. Next season we play, you will be much better prepare for the way the games go! Best wishes Søren |

Thank youdraw offers. What will happen in the remaining game? It looks like a final but it is not identical because there pawns faced. But I assure you is that I will fight for victory, not for the IM Norm, but get to the high standing possible. This is a game and we have all made mistakes that cost us some points, but we must avoid losing points for timeout. To reach the next level and this can not happen ever. Carlos |

White must now exchange due to the threat of dxe5 and Ba3.) 13.exd6 cxd6 14.Bd3 Bxd3 15.Qxd3 d5 16.c5 Nc8 17.Bf4 (White has a small edge but cannot immediately advance, so Black improves his worst piece ) Nb8! 18.Rfe1 Nc6 19.Na4 (To keep Black tied up by preventing a quick attack on d4.) Bf6 20.Rcd1 h6 21.a3 Qd7 (Slows down the Q-side advance and permits ideas with Na7-Qb5 or the redeployment in the game.) 22.h4 (White must advance on the K-side or not at all.) Bd8! (Black has equalized.) 23.h5 Re8 24.Rc1 N8e7 25.Re2 Rc8 26.Rd1 Kh8 27.Be5 Rf8 28.Bd6 Re8 (Here I offered a draw, since if White just repeats moves, Black has nothing better, either. If he declined, I hoped he would be lured into something rash.) 29.Qd2 Nf5 30.Bf4 Qe7 31.g3 Qd7 32.Kg2 Ba5 33.Qd3 Bd8 34.g4!? (A bit loosening.) (All these moves were forced on both sides.) 39.Bg3 Qxg4 (Now Black has a slight edge, but not enough to win.) 40.Qd3 f5 41.f3 Qxh5 (Not so much for the P as to protect the Re8, freeing the Ne7.) 42.Nb6 Rcd8 43.Qd2 (If Bc7, f4! with at least a draw for Black.) Kh7 44.b4! (Protecting the c and b pawns.) f4! 45.Qxf4 (Not Bxf4 Nf5! and White is in trouble.) Ng6 46.Qg4 Qxg4 47.fxg4 Rxe2+ 48.Rxe2 Nxd4 49.Rd2 (With care, White will eventually regain the P and draw.) 4th Place ClinchedStill hoping that we might get lucky and get 1.5 (1 for Carlos and .5 for me), but that will effect only Carlos's IM norm, not our team result. My last game continues. I shall keep trying to hold it. It has been an honor to play with you, my friends. Loren |

Time to ResignI have continued to play some ICCF games and have qualified for the Afro-Asian Zonal semis among other things. I am adjusting to the time of play. And I am still undefeated in actual games with White on GK and ICCF! (I lost one White game here by timeout in a P+ position before they had the automatic vacation system). Perhaps I should play some safer Black openings? Your friend, Loren |

WeBoard 4 Fmgaijin +4-1=6 7 points. Board 3 Harpov +2-2=8 6 points. Board 2 Cairo +5-1=6 8 points. Board 1 Carlosmart +3-0=9 7½ points. Total: +14-4=29 28½ points. The result was not enough for promotion to the "B" group. We ended up on a respectful 4th place and would like to thanks all my fellow "peace warriors" and congrats them with some very fine games and I'm confident, that next season will be "ours" for promotion! Next seasonChampions League Tuesday, June 05, 2012: update A few key games that determine next season's sections will be adjudicated next month and team captains are being contacted regarding these. This will enable Champion League 5 to start hopefully in October before the ICCF congress. A further announcement will be made soon regarding how to enter and the Champions webpage will also be updated with further information. Apologies for the delay as per the ICCF calendar of events but there have been too many games that decide promotion and relegation to proceed with the next cycle until very recently. Best wishes Cairo |

further season?I think we should continue with our project "Power that preserves". As far I know we have time to decide till September 14th 2012 for the entry into the tournament. If there is your wish I can manage again the team-captain-position. You haven't hear much of mine in the past times and you may observed that I've lost different games by not moving in time. I've had and have actually several personaly problems, but I hope to be back soon okay. If somebody else is ready to take over the team-captaincy, it would be okay for me too, no regret and I could understand this step. I'm always convinced that our team has the cracks what can manage the promotion till to the A-League. Myself I will play next season for the SchemingMind-Team in the A-League. I earned this honor by being member of the team that promote into this A-League. Please let me know your opinion. As always: Chessfriendly Yours Daniel |

I am ready....I sincerely hope that your personal problems are solved or its solution is early. For me (and I speak also on behalf of Soren and Loren, although they are expressed by themselves) we are very proud to belong to the team and your leadership as you have done from the beginning. And we are willing to get into this new season to reach the higher divisions. I can not speak for Hans as he has remained silent on his games and his defeats by timeout. My opinion, like the previous seasons, is that team members must have an absolute commitment to try to win and attend to their movements in time. So I am at your disposal to discuss both the composition of the team and the board order. Greetings Carlos |

Agree CompletelyLike Carlos, I appreciate your efforts on our behalf and your willingness to make an objective decision on board order and team composition. I really enjoy playing as a team member and am happy to play on whichever board you choose for me. I am glad that your personal situation is improving, and I congratulate you on your team's promotion. We came close again this past year and I am optimistic that if we all play our best and avoid time forfeits, we can gain promotion this time. Highest regards, Loren |

Dear Peace WarriorsRemember that it is of utmost importance, that all players avoid timeouts. We cannot afford to loose games on timeouts, so please plan your games in accordance with the timetable! Another important issue is staying in contact. It should always be possible for the Captain to be in contact by mail, with all players in the team. One must, without undue delay, answer emails from your captain! I suggest the following board order for the new season: 1st. board: Carlos (carlosmart) 2nd. board: Loren (fmgaijin) 3rd. board: Søren (cairo) 4th. board: Hans (harpov) This is only my humble suggestion, please let me here your opinion back. Looking forward to play with your good people for the new season! Best wishes Søren |

Thoughts on Board OrderSoren has asked me to comment. I like the idea of keeping Carlos on Bd. 1 since he played so well there last season. He is very tough against those top level players and is a hard man to beat. I can see the next two boards either way. Soren is also playing well (in fact, he finally beat me in a GK game for the first time this year!) and had a strong result last season, but I am also getting the hang of ICCF and have won a Zonal prelim recently and expect to win another Zonal prelim and a World Cup prelim that I am currently playing, so I am willing to go either way (2nd or 3rd). I am still undefeated with White in both GK and ICCF with the exception of one timeout on GK before they added the automatic leave system. Regards, Loren |

Board order - to be discussedWhat do you think about this team board order for the next season? Board 1: cairo Board 2: carlosmart Board 3: harpov Board 4: fmgaijin I put cairo back to the 1st board to give him the chance to win the 3rd SIM-Norm. And this board order is according to the ICCF ELO-ratinglist. I hope it would be okay for you too. Chessfriendly Yours Daniel |
