I can see where, as it appears to be level, but your Rd1 prevents this and puts you ahead.

I could be wrong, but I believe that 22.Rxd4 was the equivalent to conditional move that Andrew had in mind. Relating to how I'd think, I believe his thought process was give Charles the N, and then, I can down the R and get a B. The only thing I'm not sure of is if a more experienced player would think this way. The only reason for that inference at the strength he's at is due to what black just played.

A most unusual position: both pairs of rooks forked simultaneously by an enemy bishop. I don't think I've ever seen that before! Especially piquant is that both pairs of rooks are on the same bishop diagonal.

A fine queenless tactical flurry to finish the game. A couple of very attractive motifs feature as well - the mirror imaged motif - one planned, the other carried out; and the bishop fork on all four rooks at once.

Thanks for the annotated game. For someone who hasn't read many annotated games (and almost none outside of a few chess books), I found this quite an interesting one to follow. This seemed to me like a surprisingly clean game (i.e., no obvious blunders stood out to me) for OTB - a lot of my online games look a lot messier. I suppose that's what the high ratings are for.

I really liked this game and annotation, as well. What stood out to me the most was when Andrew tried to get out of trouble with 20...Nxd4. And, it's because that, very much, relates to the situation that I was in, outside of chess. Mine wasn't a good reason, though. But, with this occurring as Charles noted on that move makes me like your annotation even more. And, as one would expect, it's another reason that I'm going to rate it with 5 stars. Not only that, but even if Charles is not an accomplished chess player, by definition, he is one by my definition. As that's how we got to know each other real well and how we became GK friends. And, his main accomplishment is me commenting on, just about, all of his annotation and rating them with 4 or 5 stars.
