Annotated by jotheblackqueen (1200): Hi everyone!
A couple of days ago I finished this game with another buddy of mine, Graham, who took part in the Annotations Project Part 2. Graham is a Class C 1400+ player whose play is reminiscent of that of The Dentist. He can play well for some parts of the game and has offered up a few good suggestions in the chat in our latest game. Alas, one slip up in the opening for Graham cost… |
Annotated by bakerbaker (1200): My game with this 80-year old guy is an excellent example of how a simple lead in development can totally annihilate your opponent's king. In double king pawn positions, and other open games, development is the most important thing. Instead of playing Nf3 like normal, I decided to see if this old guy knew the importance of development, by playing this risky opening that can crush someone (like… |

Danish Gambit
Game info on preceding page This is the way I play into the Goring Gambit ("semi-Danish") or Scotch Gambit. It offers BL the option to try 3...c5 here, which will leave a large hole at d5 to exploit after 4.c3.
Also possible there is 4.Bc4 which gets complex tho after 4....b5!? 5.Bd5 Nc6 etc. not 5.Bxb5?? or Qa5… |
Annotated by j_tavares (1973): Inviting an early insane position in the opening. Should be a lesson to not follow the DB blindly I did not come out well in this... Gains a temp for now but I am stuck with a peice under attack and no way to protect it or move it because I let the opponent get center control while i went pawn picking away from the action ...a clever sacrafice by black now down 2 in material … |
Annotated by jannamon (1200): a very interesting game which is well played by my opponent queens pawn sacrafice this is a sacrafice to gain development continuing development queens side pawns are sacrificed to gain advantage on the kings side this check is expected however the knight is pinned leaving e4 vunerable the plan is to get control of the e-file his queen is not in a good position castle to protect the… |
Annotated by cheetah08 (1200): This game starts out as a center game where black refuses to "win" a pawn. The game transposes back into normal italian game lines(c3) and black claims early equality. This game shows how knowing opening transpostions can be very helpful with earning equality as black. The center game. exd4 is pratically forced. An interesting idea, as after 3.c5 4.c3 4.dxc3 5.Nxc3 white has now sacrificed… |
Annotated by abro (1686): game with my very old and good friend. Center Game. Qxd4 was main line.
Black has two options now. Save the pawn. Don't save the pawn.
There is no any reason/threat to not save the pawn.
But Question is How i save my soldier?
if 3. ... c5 then c3 dxc3 Nxc3
and Black got backward d pawn
weak Q-side pawn structure
back in development ...
(Nc6 will transpose to Scotch Game) Is this… |
