It should be pointed out in the original game, Steinitz gave his opponent his rook at the beginning of the game, so the board for white had only 1 rook. Personally, I prefer 3. In it, Steinitz sacs his queen for a beautiful 6 move forced combination that sends the enemy king right to the morgue. Enjoy:) Italian Game. Evan's Gambit. White cedes material for rapid development. Black leaves the book. 6...d6 was the play. Develops and prevents enemy castling. ? Again, 7...d6 was better.
