Annotated by ortoncountry (1200): Sicilian defence I guess I thought being aggressive would mean I dictate the game. Being white I wanted to use that tempo advantage to stop you running rings around me. It didn't work! From now on I'll save this aggressive style for lower rated players I think. After the exchange on d4 I feel I am in quite a good position here. Nice centre control, and both bishops free to move whereas one …

all out attack
tugger (1719) vs. jdh71 (1650)
Annotated by tugger (1200): one of the most interesting games i've played, it explodes into life on move 15... from then on it's crazy... sicilian... we all know this opening.... go through the motions... my preferred line... i get bored on regular sicilian, and slip into casual mode... this makes things a little more open for me if he accepts the gambit... declined... and i hate it when i'm forced to develop my bishop…

Game against my computer
bakerbaker (1755) vs. Chessmaster Opponent (1800)
Annotated by bakerbaker (1200): I was White in this game against my computer. I played a risky sacrifice because computers are known to overvalue material. Sicilian Defense. The most common response to e4. Developing move. Opening lines for development. Instead of wasting a tempo taking the pawn, I offer the computer my pawn to for a lead in development. Doesn't immediately take, but attacks my pawn. The only way to keep the …

Annotated by theancientbeast (1382): Hey, all! This is my second in a series of training annotations. Check out my first, and stay tuned for more! 1.e4, one of the most popular openings. 1...c5. The Sicilian. I am not secure in the Sicilian, but I decided to play along with what I knew and throw some curves. 2...d6. Standard book, I believe. Is this a Closed Sicilian? I try to open. This is actually a gambit, as you will soon see. …

Annotated by throneseeker (1200): This was the fourth over the board tournament in which I competed. It is also the last time I competed in OTB competition. (When I had the money, I never really had the time; now that I have the time I don't have the money!! As the French say "C'est la vive.") Having lost a pawn already, I really did not want to exchange Queens at this point. An oversight that permits me…

Annotated by ecfchamps2002 (1200): I wanted to gain space in the middle. I exchanged Knights so it would double Black's pawns on the e-file. Analysis by Fritz 8 says that White is ahead by almost a full pawn here. I made this move in order to fix Black's pawns on the dark squares in order to limit his Bishop's mobility. This move was made to avoid an exchange on g4. I did not want to trade Queen's at this point…

Coaching game
guy04 (1814) vs. student (1350)
Annotated by guy04 (1200): A coaching game. Notes are for my opponent. But I hope all who see this game can benefit. Send me your comments, improvements (there must me many). Une partie en mode coaching. Envoyez-moi vos commentaires, améliorations. The very popular sicilian opening. L'ouverture sicilienne, la plus jouée en réponse à e4. The most popular reply. White will attempt the push d4 without having to…

Annotated by almageccom (1200): He was down material, but lost because of a major blunder in the end. Wow! What a messy brawl thsi turned out to be. Now White looks like it is about to launch an unstoppable attack If I can secure my King and fend off the attack without losing the material advantage, I should take this game. I see counter-attacking possibilities This looks like it is jsut to …
